Just returned from a week at Hotel Cordial and was extremely impressed both with the hotel and the resort. The hotel itself is truly amazing and photos just don't do it justice. Many of the rooms are built round courtyards featuring water features on a grand scale and the kind of plants you might have in your front room although, in this case, they are forty or fifty feet tall. The hotel is very large and spread over a wide area but they've been careful not to give it a uniform or corporate feel by using different styles, colours, tiles etc. This makes it really interesting to walk around as you always spot something new. This hotel could be a 'theme' hotel in Las Vegas but in this case all the rock and plants are real and not made out of polystyrene or plastic.
Food was excellent with a wide choice and friendly staff. You have to walk quite a lot to find all the choices but at least this keeps the calories down! Other facilities in the hotel are also excellent and the whole place is spotlessly clean. Didn't enjoy the entertainment much but some people did. We tended to sit in the foyer and listen to the piano or sax player or go down to the harbour for a drink. There was a DVD/CD player in the room so this was a bonus too.
We spent an afternoon in the spa which I would also recommend.
Puerto de Mogan itself is very pretty and only a few minutes walk away. Plenty of bars and restaurants but no clubs (at least, I don't think so) so it was very peaceful with a pleasant atmosphere. The hotel and resort seem to attract a variety of nationalities with no one nationality dominating. This made the whole place seem much more welcoming and cosmopolitan and was a definite plus factor.
The final positive was the weather - absolutely perfect with sunshine every day but not too hot. Reading about the snow in England while we were away made us feel quite smug - sorry all those who didn't get away!

The hotel is really really good, can't fault this place at all, beautiful garden-all hotel areal, nice rooms with balcony (chairs-table), plenty choice of food-yummy (fish, steaks, omelets...) but have to say, didn't like the cakes ;( lots of artificial additives but on the other hand always big choice of fruits ;)
Swimming pool area is superb with jacuzzi next to it for free (cold water only) but who really cares about it when outside is 28 C???I don't ;)
The location is quiet, but always can take bus/taxi to nearest resorts for fun/beaches/trips...
Once you have got there, you won't be disappointed ;)
The island is beautiful and the hotel is one of the best (we were told and what we have seen only can agree)

This was a fantastic holiday by any standard. I was looking for a relaxing time away, with a high standard of accommodation, a great beach and great food and this place had it all! The website and travel brochures do not do this hotel and the resort justice. You need to see the hotel to truly appreciate the quality of it. It is like no other hotel I have ever stayed in and I cannot even begin to describe it. With its tropical plants, waterfalls and caves.... it is as though it is built outdoors. The restaurant was huge and had indoor and outdoor seating. The selection and quality of food for breakfast and dinner was fantastic. We hit a quiet week and did not have to queue but as we were leaving, the hotel became busy and queuing for food was a bit annoying so we ate out. You didn't have to queue for long though. The staff in the hotel and restaurant are so helpful and friendly.
The only disappointment is hotel entertainment. They have amazing facilities to provide top quality entertainment. The animation team who co-ordinate and provide some of the entertainment are not great, but they try to make it fun and I think the kids would enjoy it. We saw 2 good shows in the week we were there; an acrobactic act and flamenco dancers. It depends what you want from a holiday I suppose.
The resort is clean and spotless, the restaurants on the beach front and the marina, just 5-10 mins walk away are amazing. We ate out for lunch everyday and once for dinner and we did not have a bad experience. Prices are simliar to restaurants at home, so it can become expensive eating out everyday. There are some lovely little restaurants where traditional music is played every night, one called ORILLA'S bar and restaurant, across the bridge near the beach and about 200yards on the right, is well worth a visit for entertainment. Beach is spotless and sea is calm and ideal for swimming.
A relaxing, enjoyable holiday. Will definately be returning soon....

myself, husband, brother and sis-in-law stayed for two weeks at the cordial-what a beatiful hotel-the receptionist who booked us in was lovely(martina) the animation team always said hello and were very friendly bar none + the waiting staff, chefs and maitre d' were all extreemly freindly- smiling and very helpful-- we only had one hiccup in the restaurant- it was my brothers 50th birthday in the middle of our stay and my sis-in-law organized a table and a cake for the evening time--when we got to the door he told us -as he was showing us to the table that he had a lovely table made up in the spanish colours- we all stopped in our tracks when we saw a couple sitting at our table-the waiter of that area had not put a reserve sign on -the couple refused to move- no they were not german they were english- we were shown to another table and given our champagne(on the house) and after our meal my brother was presented with a beautiful cake which was made fresh that day in the kitchen-the lady next to us got up and took a photo for us and congratulated my brother-a german lady - shame on the english couple..anyway- rooms are cleaned every day-food very good- pools very clean and pool attendents will fetch you cushions for your sunbeds if they are not already there. the grounds of the cordial are fab-very well maintained and with beautiful aromas-the whole building has character not a plain wall in sight. if you are going home on a late flight there are shower rooms on the first floor above where the blue pool towels are given out.... the people of mogan are so friendly-not one person we could speak bad of- and we spoke to a lot of them.. lots of lovely restaurants down at the port especially antonios-- over the small bridge across the road keep going staight and its on your right-blue and white canopys and table covers- antonio plays the spanish guitar and has a wonderful voice- most nights there is a harpist who he will join(Wonderful)and on thursday nights an argentinian friend will join antonio also on guitar -- A BRILLIANT NIGHT the music starts between 8 and 9 pm - antonios wife cooks the most wonderful food and his daughter will serve you- not a big place but well worth lots of visits.. you can brows around any shop here and no one will hastle you -they are very polite... we went to the zoo bar (opposit antonios) and were over charged by quite alot-make sure to check change befor leaving. the beach is small and safe never over crowded.. I think the rep is only there for you if you are buying one of the trips from her.
everything about the cordial--and mogan-- is superb-first class and will definitely go back again. we hired a car for one week and saw lots of different places and lovely people- thank you to my brother for all the driving he did even if he did go on the wrong side of the road and give us all a fright (for 5 seconds) we had such a good holiday not even the extra charge for excess baggage weight on our way home could make me moan...

Read many (if not all) of the Trip Advisor reviews before chosing this hotel and they were 99% accurate.
A beautiful hotel with the most exquisite gardens and florabunda. The harbour, which is just a 10 minute walk from the hotel entrance (or 5 minutes if you walk through the gardens to the back door) is beautiful. Especially at this time of year, no crowds, except on a Friday when the market comes to town and so do tourist from all over the Island! It's massive and full of traders who have lots of "copy" products and if you like to barter, then you could get a bargain, but be very, very careful - remember you only get what you pay for!
The staff at the hotel were wonderful. We had booked a Junior Suite which was located next to the Chapel (no bells thankfully!) and we were greeted by not one, but two glasses of champagne which got the holiday off to a good start.
The breakfast in the morning was extremely good, except we thought the cereal variety very poor, cornflakes, plain rice crispies or coco-pops - OK for kids. No Muslei or oat-based healthy cereal.
The only grumble we had and so did MANY of the other guests was the two sittings for dinner in the evening the hotel operate! We, like many, booked half-board (wont do that again) and you either had to be at the first sitting by1830 and have to be out (or they ask you to go!) at 2000hrs. The next sitting is at 2030hrs to 2200 hrs. In each case it's a RUSH for the food, which is getting cold as it had been laid out at least 30 minutes before the opening time. The food and the two settings let the hotel down. Why they don't keep the restaurant open from 1830 to 2200 hrs is a mystery?! You are constantly looking at your watch, shoving your food down so you can eat within the time frame. You are also having to rush to get their on time to get a decent table.
We will definitely be returning to the Cordial Mogan Playa, but not half board as there are some fantastic restaurants at the Harbour and lots of choice. Also cheaper than eating at the hotel.
One little gem we and couple of others from hour hotel stumbled across was the Taverna Verdi which is 5 minutes walk from the hotel. As you walk down to the Harbour on the pedestrian walkway, about 300 yards on the right is a walk way and if you walk along you will see written on the wall of a small building the name of the tavern. From the minute we sat down we got the warmest of welcomes, and we experienced a true Spanish family atmosphere where the proprietor, friend and son play Flaminco guitars and harp. They sing for nigh on 3 hours with only a short break in between and they have the most hilarious parrot hid in the bushes! We went there two evenings in a row and when we left on our last night we felt part of the family.
We have travelled to the Caribbean and Far East and have to say this was one of the best short break holidays we have experienced.

we chose this hotel on a late booking, based on recommendations from this site. We were not disappointed at all and enjoyed a relaxing week of hot weather in beautiful surroundings. This hotel has a wow factor which hits you when entering the foyer. It is very clean, the decor is of a very high standard and the staff are multilingual and very helpful. Little touches like champagne on arrival, made us feel very welcome. we had an elderly relative with us who had her own room next door, both our rooms opened into a private lobby area with an outer door into the corridor, so we could lock that and safely leave our doors open if we wanted access to both rooms. The pools were well laid out with private areas for sunbathing, each pool has spa's and a bar area. Beach towels are provided each day ( by a really happy guy ) the rooms are spotless and very spacious. We stayed half board, the food was good and varied, although like other comments the time allocation system can be restricting and make you feel like your part of a process. Evening entertainment was a little uninspiring, but sitting in the huge sofa's in reception listening to the pianist or sax player was really pleasant . The childrens entertainers did a great job early evening with the youngsters and spoke in all languages.
Mogan is a quiet area with good restaurants and bars. they are not " tacky " like some places in Puerto Rico. The beach is a 10 minute walk from the hotel, it is sandy and safe for children. Their are some good quality shops and the usual souvenir outlets and a huge market appears on Fridays which is well worth a visit. we usually stay in Marriott Hotels when taking short breaks as the quality is very high, this hotel is better and we would definitely return again.

My girlfriend and I stayed at this hotel in the early part of September. We were really impressed with every aspect of the hotel, especially the champagne on arrival! The staff were very friendly and welcoming and also had a fine grasp of most languages. The room was very clean and big enough for two people. It was cleaned daily. The pool area was very laid-back, had very little noise, which was great for a relaxing time by the pool. It was also really easy to grab a lounger. Another impressive aspect were the grounds which were very green and picturesque. One of our favourite features of the hotel was the spa. It was pleasant and very quiet, we often found ourselves to be the only ones there! The food was of a high quality, with a large variety of foods. Mogan itself is a really quiet town, ideal for couples wanting a relaxing break, maybe not for a wild holiday. The only downside was the nightly entertainment in the hotel which often consisted of cheesy acts. Overall our stay was excellent and we'd like to thank all the staff for making our time there very enjoyable, especially the guy who works at the small shop. Legend.

We stayed here in early July, no crowds and very peaceful stay.
Amazing Junior Suite, large second floor terrace surrounded by palm trees. Great landscaping and pool areas. We only had breakfast at the hotel and it was very good. Puerto Mogan is very nice and peaceful. We had dinner in the harbor area every day, even found a good chinese restaurant. Great with boats to Puerto Rico if you want to take a short trip on the ocean.
We're trying the sister complex, apartments Cordial Mogan Valle this winter, but plan to go back to Mogan Playa next summer again. Truly a good stay !

One week trip, just outside of school holidays and a welcome relief from the dismal British weather.
The Hotel is fabulous, very smart, clean and well organised. We upgraded to a Junior Suite, that was more like a small apartment. The layout is very good with plenty of room at both of the pool sides for those sun worshipers. The food is plentiful and varied though being a buffet style the later evening meals can sometimes be a feeding frenzy but the staff quickly replenish the dishes as required.
Puerto Mogan and the Cordial Playa are NOT locations if you are looking for a clubbing/nightlife scene. It is somewhere to relax in very pleasant surroundings. There are any number of excellent bars just a few minutes walk away in the port area. We highly rate the restaurant Orillas Del Mar.
The evening entertainment in the hotel (cabaret style stuff) wasn't really to our tastes but seemed popular amongst many others.
The hotel really pulls out all the stops to help in any way and we found all the staff to be very pleasant, attentive and polite.
Ready to visit again next year now!

Most of the reviewers have given this hotel resort a very high rating. My wife and I join in and say that this is an excellent hotel with the latest and greatest of amenities. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We have traveled quite a bit and stayed at our share of Ritz Cartons type hotels and this was a match. The drive over is a challenge if you are bothered by height. The road winds along a cliff hundreds of feet up. After a few rides we were used to it. The food was good but not five star. Given that it was a large buffet for hundreds of people it was well done. The hotel is proximate to the town just a few hundred yards away and the town is beautiful with many open air sidewalk cafes and restaurants to pick from. One reviewer gave this place a bad review but in reading the review you get the impression he was reviewing another hotel by mistake. For example he mentions that the hotel is still under construction. It was finished 4 years ago
We highly recommend this hotel to anyone, family, children, couples, young or old. The hotel is stunning to look at built right under some imposing cliffs. This is where you want to be.

My wife and I visited Hotel Cordial Mogan Playa for 2 weeks in July-August 2008. We have been several times to Grand Canaria, and this is the best stay ever.
The hotel is just fantastic. Luxury colonial style, large heated pools and a beautiful sub-tropical garden with flowers from all over the world, made a perfect holiday. We will strongly recommend the restaurants at Codial Mogan Playa who offered excellent canarian and international cuisines.
The hotel is situated a few minutes walk to the beaches of Puerto de Mogan, with activities for active tourism.
We will soon be back.

Well, what can i say? Best holiday EVERRRR! The hotel was just fab-definitely worth the four star plus title. The food was delicious-caviar and champagne for breakfast.anyone?! Dinner was even better-pasta,salad,soup,meat,fish:anything you could wish for! The hotel entertainment was a bit of a let-down to tell you the truth but the little kids seemed to enjoy it! The animation team were fab though-energetic,outgoing,enthusiastic and just made you smile really! My family and I took a bus down to Maspalomas where my mum rode a camel-definitely worth the experience! We also took a boat trip to Arguinigin-boat was fun but the town wasn't anything special-made us realise how lovely Mogan is. HiperDino (the supermarket) is wicked-only 30 seconds from the hotel and super cheap! I highly recommend taking a stroll down to the harbour in Mogan to "Cafe Mogan" a chic and sophisticated restaraunt. Have an AfterEight milkshake-they are divine! Hotel library was great, pool fantastic (empty until 11am), weather and town lovely-ooo what a fab holiday I had! Just to finish off... Friday market in Mogan is fantastic for all you fake designer lovers! So,yeah Cordial Mogan Playa is the best hotel on the island suitable for all!

This was my first time away with my boyfriend and what a great hotel to come to. Playa de Mogan is an untouch placed which is so nice to see. The staff at the hotel are so friendly and went the extra mile for us. It was the perfect place for my boyfriend to purpose to me which i said YES to!! I will never forget this holiday and the cordial was just amazing, great food (we both nearly put on a stone in 2 weeks), friendly staff, great pool and so near to the beach and shops.

Being 16 years old, and quite shy with new people, I thoroughly enjoyed my time at Cordial Mogan Playa. I'm not into going out every night...and this holiday was just right. It was so relaxing. The hotels surroundings are very quiet and wasn't right near the port...so wasn't too many people around outside.
There were 2 swimming pools, one nearest reception which was the one we went in...it was the louder pool. But not too crowded. The other pool seemed deserted alot of the time.
The reception was decorated really nicely with cosy looking chairs and tables and a huge coloured glass ceiling. There were nice waterfalls as you entered and the reception staff greeted you very friendly with a glass of orange juice or champagne.
The most impressive thing I found myself about this hotel, was the 'animation team' who carried out activites throughout the day and was involved in evening entertainment. They were so happy and enthusiastic every minute of speaking to them. Very friendly and me and my 13 year old brother got to know them quite well!
The breakfast selection was huge. Including different breads, danish pastries, bready cakes, full english, fruits, yoghurts, ham, cheese, pancakes and omlettes made freshly by the chef.
As we were on half board, we went to the Dino supermarket across the road (virtually 30 seconds to walk there) and they had freshly cooked baguettes...so we bought ham and cheese and had them in the baguettes for not a bad price.
The dinner was quite a different selection...although everyone who could be picky with food would be more than satisfied with the selection...you could have soups, salads, grilled chicken pork or beef, pizza, chips, breads, and also a wide range of proper meals...from lasagne to snails. There was also quite a lot of vegetarian things to eat.
The rooms were very nice...probably the nicest I've stayed in. The beds were very comfortable and the bathrooms were spacious and clean. The downfalls of the rooms were that the maid did come quite late in the afternoon sometimes and could have come a bit earlier. And also, the TV only had 3 english speaking channels out of 30?...Which were Eurosport, BBC world news, and the American news channel.
I often got woken up early in the morning and in the evenings sometimes from furniture being moved/scraped across the floor above us. That got very noisy and irritating.
The hotel grounds were very impressive with a huge surface area...the hotel grounds are so big that we did get lost first night and it took us a few days to know where everything was.
There was a lot to do...with pool tables, free table tennis, air hockey, a gym, water polo, tennis court, a spa, a huge chess board, 3 internet computers (10 mins for 1 euro)...and a small library with books and magazines. There is even a bowling alley open in the evenings.
The evening entertainment was sometimes quite funny because it was so bad. We found the 'Hippies party' quite funny to watch. And the juggling night wasn't too good. The bingo night was good fun for everyone. And the night with the continental dancers with big costumes was actually quite impressive.
Finally, I can say that I did enjoy this RELAXING holiday. It mainly had Germans staying, with a few English and a few Spanish. Its best feature was the hotel grounds and the animation staff (entertainment).
I recommend it to literally everyone. Apart from young adults who are looking to come in at 5 in the morning completely smashed out of their faces from being at a club all night.
Would go back definately.

I went to this hotel with my wife and two daughters (13&16) and we all loved it, I am surprised to read previous criticism.
The reception area is huge and very impressive and we were greeted with champagne and orange juice. The reception was polite and helpful.
The rooms were spacious with air conditioning, though this was rather noisy. The bathroom was large with a power shower over bath; both were kept very clean by the maids. The windows had a blackout curtain which was useful if like my children you like a lie-in. There was a good size balcony.
The hotel has huge plants and water features all over it, you have to see it to really appreciate it. Some of the palm trees are full size, and there were bananas and limes growing in some parts. The grounds are very extensive and the lower exit is almost in Puerto Mogan. The beach is only a short walk away though not quite as near as the travel broacher implied.
There are two heated pools plus kids’ pool; these were heated and very warm. We were each given a towel for use by the pool which you could change as often as you liked. We never had any problem getting a sun bed even when we had been out and came back in the afternoon. There were thick blue cushions to go on the sun beds and the pool attendant would get them for you, or you could get them yourself. We found the pool area was kept very clean and tidy
All the staff were very polite, friendly and very helpful, we could not fault them.
We were on half board and the food was fantastic, massive choice and as much as you liked, even my children whose favourite food is Subway or McDonalds found something they liked. The restaurant is buffet style which suited us.
Mogan is a small, very pretty harbour but do not expect much night life,it is a resort for a quiet relaxing holiday. The beach is sandy and safe for bathing with plenty of sun beds which you pay for. We never went to the beach because we prefer a warm pool, the sea is the Atlantic. We thought Mogan was the best resort along this coast, but that depends on what you want from a resort.
The evening entertainment was a bit naff, and I could not really recommend it, but as we never went there for the night life it did not bother us. My girls spent a lot of time in the computer room on the internet at 1 Euro for 10min, and they made several friends so they were ok.
Overall we all thought this hotel was superb and hard to fault, we all said we would go back. The gardens and layout are magnificent, the staff great. WE LOVED THIS PLACE

Have just returned from our second visit to this excellent hotel, the first in July 2006, and would recommend it to anyone who wants a relaxing holiday in beautiful surroundings(grounds are stunning) and excellent food both in quality and selection. All the staff were very friendly and helpful and everything around the hotel was kept clean and tidy. Although other reviewers have said this hotel may not be suitable for teenage children because it could be too quiet I have to say that the activities organised by the fantastic animation team certainly kept my active teenage son fully involved all day( table tennis, football, water polo, darts, bowling.....!)
The rooms are a good size, and all have a balcony or patio with furniture. No problem with not enough sunbeds round the pools - lots of them and easy to find one even when the hotel is busy.
There is entertainment every night and it is great to sit after dinner with a drink and watch, although a walk into the village is a nice alternative.
A nice touch is the 'library' of books upstairs from reception which has grown over the 2 years and now has a great selection to choose and borrow from.
Overall we have come back refreshed and wishing we could have stayed longer!

We have just returned from a 14 nights stay at The Cordial Mogan Playa.
I can tell you one thing: This is a fantastic hotel, set in a perfect location.
We have been to Gran Canary before, but NOTHING beats The Cordial and the beautiful surroundings.
We just loved the hotel and its friendly staff - allways with a smile and ready to help I just can't tell anything bad about this hotel.
We had booked a junior-suite and just loved it. The suite was cleaned every day to perfection. It was spotlessly clean and we could walk barefooted around without getting dirt under our feets. That's cleaning when it's best. The beds were very comfy and we were very pleased with the living room with a sofa, two armchairs, tv, telephone and a writing desk. The aircon was perfect and not noisy as we've noticed at many other hotels.
The food was amazing too. Even we are fussy eaters there were plenty to choose from. The whole staff in the restaurant did their absolutely best to serve us - no complains at all. Allways with a smile and a hola. We choosed the first sitting at 18.30 and there were plenty of free tables and no lines getting the food.
Our breakfast was served in the blue building - a perfect place.
You can choose sitting inside or outside. We arrived at 8 and we were the first at this time.
The pool area was spotlessly clean too. We only noticed friendly poolmen. We went to the pool every day between 9 - 9.30 and there were allways plenty of free sunchairs. When we left at about 12.30 there were still free sunchairs.
The hotelground is amazing too - with lots of tropical plants - almost like walking in a tropical forest (we have tried this on Hawaii).
The reception area is a fantastic place - just look at the pictures I've added. The check-in was very fast, professionel and with a smile. Our lugage was brought to our room.
Mogan is a very beautiful little village, well kept and clean with a little beach and a habour. We loved walking around there almost every day, looking at the flowers, the houses and the shops. At NO time the shopowners tried to "force" us to buy or yelled at us as they do in Puerto Rico and Playa Del Ingles.
I coluld keep on writing good things about this amazing hotel, but I can advise you: If you are going to Gran Canary for a relaxing, quite vacation then go Mogan and stay at The Cordial - you won't be dissapointed!!
We have allready booked for Christmas and New Year - and believe me - we wouldn't have done this if we thought we could have found a better place.

I would definitely go back to the Cordial Mogan ,Hotel grounds were beautiful (and huge) , the staff polite and mostly helpful , the rooms were good and we found the whole place clean and tidy.
There were always sunbeds available near the pool ,there was no need for early morning reserving of beds although it still happened a bit. The hotel was quite popular with Germans.
The buffet for breakfast and dinner was fine, we always found something we wanted to eat .The food is definitely "continental" - lots of cold meat and cheese (and the odd weird dish, like snails one evening) but theres a lot of other things to choose from .
We went with 2 teenagers so we were glad there was an internet room with 3 computers (1 euro for 10 mins access) , also 3 pool tables (one near the swimming pool and 2 near the gym). The gym is hidden away at the bottom of the blue building near swimming pool #2, where theres also a table tennis table.
The activities were well run -they have a good enthusiastic young team and our 2 enjoyed joining in (which they dont always do)
.Didnt think the evening entertainment was as bad as the other reviews here , but then our expectations were pretty low to start with.
Mogan itself is nice and quiet - down at the harbour there are bars restaurants and a few shops . I thought it made a nice change to be able to walk around without getting hassled by every cafe we walked past (unlike in Puerto Rico ) and there are no annoying reps selling time share here.
We liked playing mini golf last year and there are loads in Puerto Rico but unfortunately none in Mogan.
We only ate out once at "Zoo" (for the main course) but wasnt impressed. Had desert at the big Irish bar by the harbour- great array of cheesecakes etc!

Have just returned from a stay at the Cordial Mogan Playa with my 2 children. What can I say this Hotel is phenomenal, I have stayed in a lot of top class hotels and this is without doubt the best I have ever stayed in.
As previous travellers have written the Reception area is magnificent, simply stunning, and the welcome on arrival was very warm and friendly.
Please do not be put of by previous reviews, there will always be people that complain . The food is simply outstanding with tastes to suit everyone, even the fussiest of eaters. Always fresh dishes cooked whilst you wait. A wide variety. Champagne caviar and salmon for breakfast.
The hotel provides beach towels, which can be changed as often as you like.
There is a kids club free of charge every day for 2 hour periods.
The staff are positively charming, nothing is too much trouble.
The beach is a 5 minute walk, with a picturesque harbour.
Drinks are a bit pricey, but again this is an upmarket hotel, where you would expect this. The hotel has no problem with you stocking the fridge in your room with your own drinks.
Believe me you will not be disappointed, there is a large clientele of Germans & Spanish, which in my opinion proves this is a 1st class hotel.
Will return again next year absolutely fantastic!!

This hotel surpassed our expectations, we surmised from the vast majority of reviews posted that we had chosen a good hotel but the reviews dont do justice to the hotel experience.
From fornt of house to the animation crew they were polite, efficient & courtious at all times, the hotel reception will blow your mind - simply stunning, the hotel grounds are the most fantastic arrangement of palms & tropical botanicals ive ever seen its oppulent.
The rooms are a good size for 2 adults with luxury bathrooms & terrace or small garden - yes "garden".
The facilities were fantastic, we made use of the tenis court, squash court, & 4 lane full size ten pin bowling alley, my wife & daughter indulged in the beauty spa treatments & rated the experience as good as any spa they tried in Florida at half the cost.
The food was exceptional, anyone no matter how fussy an eater was catered for, from smoked salmon with champagne for breakfast to steak & fish cooked to order by the chefs at the grill
in front of you, superb food.
The hotel has an a la carte restaurant "guayres" which we booked on our last night, I strongly reccomend a visit, we enjoyed a fantastic meal here with superb service.
The resort is very small but expanding, it is also very beautiful & only a 5 minute walk away, but such was the pampering & amenities afforded by the hotel we chose to enjoy the hotels amenities more often than not.
This was a great family holiday, we will definately be back & thoroughjly reccomend this hotel to anyone visiting Puerto Mogan.

Fantastic hotel excellent food lovely rooms and superb gardens.Evening entertainment not bad but could be better some nights.Staff very helpful even though .at check in could have done with getting more info on hotel.I discovered they have a library while waiting for the bus to take me to the airport!!!!swimmimg pools very good and also cater for small children.Do not need to take pool towels, soap or shower gel as all provided,Dont know if we were lucky or not but we did not have to pay for the fridge key.Could have stayed in the hotel for the whole two weeks and not gone out it was that good. Some of the retaurants in Puerto Mogan were closed from end of June to end of August as it is their quiet period so travellers need to be aware that the winter is the busy time. The problem with the nearby apartments appears to have been resolved so although busy in the hotel we never has problems getting sunbeds at any time of the day.All nationalities staying here including a lot of locals who appear to come in for long weekends.Yes I had a great time and am definitely considering booking again for next year,it was the most relaxing holiday I have ever had and one of the best hotels I have ever stayed in.

Hotel was lovely, not too full at this time of year. Local area did not have a lot to do but we were after a relaxing holiday and this is what we got, market in the harbour on a Friday is worth a visit. Plenty of room around the pools, hotel provided free beach towels. Excellent choice of food at meal times. Would stay here again

This really is a lovely hotel. Visually it is stunning but also very clean. At various times I saw people polishing the pillars and even using back-to-black on the railings - way above the usual cleaning standards.
It is laid out more like a complex than a standard "block" hotel so I found it took me about 24hrs to get my bearings but they give you a little map to help and a porter takes your luggage on arrival so you can follow him. We spotted a few people who tried to do it themselves to avoid giving him a tip and we saw them wandering about later when we were already in the bar!!!
The food is very good. Yes, it is a bit of a scramble at peak times but most issues were caused by pig ignorant guests rather than the hotel itself! The fresh griddles where they do the omlettes in the morning and the fresh meat and fish at night do get a bit of a queue. The sheer selection of food is impressive though and I think even the fussiest eater would find something to enjoy!
The bar does seem a bit pricey at 6 euro for a spirit but you have to take into account the measures! They are done by eye and I reckon are at least 4 times bigger than the UK. So in that respect, they don't work out too badly. As others have said, the Dino supermarket is just opposite and forget any ideas of a run-down, manky Med supermarket - this place thinks it's Tesco!
The resort itself is beautiful but is very quiet. If you want live music and clubs, then forget what the hotel is like as you won't like the resort. What you'll find is an abundance of little bars and restaurants, some overlooking the sea or harbour, serving fab, fresh food! Check out Zoo Bar where they have a huge python! Girls, there is also a fabulous shoe shop in Mogan!!
So, all in all, if you want a laid back, quiet holiday in beautiful surroundings then both the hotel and the resort are for you!

All I can say is I have been on many holidays to hotels 4*/5* and this place was expectional!!
The pool(S) were massive, the hotel very clean , bright and airy, rooms large and air con worked a treat!!
Its only a short stroll to the beach, shops and restaurants!
This is the best hotel in mogan so book it up, everybody says that inc locals, reps, etc!
Also amazing big bird cage with delightful canaries are on the complex! Sweet little things!!
Cannot fault it! We got a fab deal and loved every minute of it!

Absolutely amazing...
The hotel is amazing, as someone said, the reception hall is breath taking...
The food is great and can satisfy even the most fussier eater, plenty for everybody... and the waiters nice and friendly...
The room was spotless, cleaned daily, nice balcony, the only problem will be if you want to watch the tv... except Euronews, CNN and a couple of other news channels, there's no channel in english.
The gardens are amazing... take a couple of hours to wander around them, it's well worthed.
If you want a quiet and cool place for a lovely coffee, then just cross the road from the recetion to the Shopping Centre, go towards the supermarket Dine and just before it are some stairs going down, there is the EL ENCUENTRO Bar... Manolo and his family will more then welcome you... every evening from 9pm is karaoke night, and if you want to have a good laugh, ask Manolo to do the monkey song :o) You can also have a lovely Pepito and the spirits are not served by measure, but by eye and usual are pretty generous quantities.
If you want to go for a nice meal, we recommend the restaurant "COFRADIA PESCADORES"... it's in the harbor on the way to the light house... you can't miss it, during the day is packed with locals and quiet in the evening... top quality food and without any exagaration, we had the best fish dish in ages...
Next year we will return...

My Wife & I* stayed at the Cordial Mofan Playa for two weeks from 26th May - 9th June.2008
We had a really great holiday and were extremely impressed by the hotel and its facilities, the gardens were truly amazing, the staff were professional, smart, helpful and so friendly, always with a smile, the food was very good I could not believe the reception area it was incredible almost like a large arboretum, fantastic.
The Junior Suite (1926) was really nice, good sitting room with sofa bed, two armchairs, TV with DVD, fully furnished balcony with two sun beds, table & two chairs, large bedroom with twin beds, dressing table & mirror, large bathroom with bath, walk in shower toilet & sink plus a large sliding wardrobe in the hall between living room & bedroom.
My wife was very pleased and impressed with the really lovely flowers that the hotel arranged at my request to be in our room upon arrival and we appreciated the complimentary bowl of fruit, two bottles of water and the great bottle of wine, waiting for us when we arrived.
The swimming pools were very good as were the really comfortable and relaxing sun beds, there were plenty of them with sun shades and even when the hotel was full over the Gran Caneria Holiday Weekend it was still easy to get a sun bed there was plenty of room in the super clean pool and the Jacuzzi was brilliant.
We both enjoyed a massage and had a great day out on a coach tour into the mountains organised for us by the hotel shop manager who was exceptionally helpful.
I cannot praise the Cordial Hotel Group enough it is the best hotel I have ever stayed at in any of the Canary Islands, including many five star hotels and I was surprised that it is was only rated as a 4 star hotel. In my opinion its standard is as good as many five star hotels and should at least be quoted by travel agents as a four star +.
Hotel Tips & Facts;
Suitable for Couples, Families, with young children and the more mature.
Main Hotel is in four three storey blocks set around the swimming pool with mountain views, all rooms have balconies.
There are fifty Junior Suites and five senior suites all located behind the second pool, the Junior Suites are two storey, eight rooms in a block set around an open inner courtyard, very quiet & private with furnished balcony or terrace. (These all use the separate restaurant for breakfast each day from 0800 - 1030, using the main restaurant at night, two sittings 1830-2000 & 2000 to 2130. There is also a really nice Ala Carte Restaurant where should you wish to eat an allowance is made from any half/full board stay.
You can also swop dinner for lunch and change your sitting for dinner. Just let reception know.
Through the rear gate behind the junior suites, turn right, 100yds and you will find an excellent Spar shop for all your needs, there is also a larger Supermarket 100 yds away from the main reception area
Puerto Mogan is an unspoilt pretty village mainly of two storey apartments (some for rental) set around a really nice harbour and marina with lots of small bars and restaurants to suit most tastes, but if you want nightlife, disco's and rowdy bars this is not for you. There is also a nice beach area which fronts more shops and restaurants complete with sun beds for hire. There are boat trips from the harbour with ferries’ to the other small tourist areas of Puerto Rico, with some boats for Dolphin watching and even a Yellow Submarine for those that want to look under the ocean. For the real fisherman there are plenty of Sport Fishing Boats available for charter.
Do take a trip by coach up into the mountains, the scenery is spectacular, see the manager of the hotel shop, he is very helpful and will organise everything for you..
My wife and take with us the memory of a great stay, lovely gardens, friendly people and a spotlessly clean hotel, our chambermaids worked very hard and our room and towels were always clean and fresh, all round we had a great holiday stay at the Cordial Mogan Playa, and we will go back again.

This was our second visit to this Hotel, we were made most welcome by all the Staff, we were taken to our room and it was lovely.
We had read on the Trip Advisor reports about the people who had booked the Self Catering apartments next door and the complex was not completed therefore these people were put in the Cordial Mogan Playa. This was very evident these people were going to dinner in T shirts and shorts and the Restaurant Manager did not stop this, we found this to be unacceptable, we had booked a four star plus hotel and did not expect these people to be sharing a quality hotel with us dressed in shorts for dinner.
The Hotel is excellent and is surrounded by beautiful gardens, the food is good but on a few occasions the food could have been hotter.
Chamber Maids seemed not to have a routine, and your room could be cleaned anytime up to 4.30pm.
The resort of Puerto Mogan is still very quaint and was very quiet until a Friday when it was Market day there are a lot of stalls all around the port and it adds to the atmosphere, the rest of the time it was very quiet.
Hotel entertainment was nothing to write home about; it was not as good as when we previously went. The service in the bar was very slow they seemed to be short of staff.
We had to laugh and be ashamed to be British one man a BRIT would walk around the pool area where everyone was sun bathing looking in the dustbins for the English newspapers to read was too mean to buy his own, then we would see him at breakfast with a large bag taking fruit and rolls, we assume for his lunch, this sort of behaviour should be stopped by management.
Would we go back to this Hotel? Yes we would it is a very relaxing place, and very clean, the pool was so warm it was like bath water.
It is a classy hotel and we can recommend it. Peaceful and quiet especially now that the Apartments next door are open, hopefully the Hotel will only have their own guests in the future

We have just returned from the Cordial Mogan Playa. I think most people have already covered how impressive this hotel is, so here is some additional useful info:
1. There is no need to take beach towels as the hotel provide one per person which can be changed as often as you wish.
2. If you get the option of having a taxi transfer this would be well worth it - it took us around 2 hours to get there by coach after many drop offs in Puerto Rico.
3. As another reviewer has said, wait until you have been to your room before paying for the fridge - ours was already unlocked and the hotel don't appear to be bothered by you buying food/drinks from the supermarket opposite to put in the fridge.
4. The hotel got busier throughout the week that we were there and on the last day we struggled to get a lounger by either of the pools at 11. It is mainly down to the usual problem of people putting towels on loungers early in the morning and not using them until later in the day!
5. People sitting at tables in the bar areas seem to take priority over people stood at the bar when it comes to being served (frustrating when all you are waiting to do is pay for an ice-cream you have helped yourself to from the freezer).
6. On arrival we were given the option of which dinner sitting we wanted (6.30 to 7.30 or 8.30 to 9.30) however, we were told that if we wanted to change this one evening we could do as long as we let reception know.
And finally I can confirm that the Mogan Valle apartments are now open.
Overall this is an excellent hotel with just a few minor points that i believe are letting it down from becoming 5 star.

Recently returned from our holiday and stayed at this fantastic hotel. Were supposed to be paying in the Cordial Apartments but weren't ready. Boy were we glad we got transferred to the Hotel.
On arrival met with either glass of champers or orange. The reception foyer takes your breath away. Then arrived at our room which was spotlessly clean and well presented.
Meals in the restaurant were good, both morning and evening. The A la Carte restaurant was a tadge disappointing. Service was that laid back it took a while for food to come. Then the waiters cocked up our order and had to recook it. Apart from that though the food was fantastic.
Didn't really go out sightseeing that much as our holiday was a 'relax by the pool' affair. Went to Puerto Rico on our last day (glad we didn't stay there).
Mogan is really pretty and would love to go back some time in the future to have a sightseeing holiday though.
Would definitely recommend the hotel to family and friends. Great Holiday.

Just returned yesterday from a week staying at this hotel - WOW!
Everything was excellent and most has been said before me.
We didn't venture too far from the hotel just a boat trip into Puerto Rico and the Friday Market in the town the rest of the time just spent relaxing around the pool.
We saw three evening shows the Black Brothers, a dance troup - can't remember the name and the Soul Sisters (hence the title of this review) and as hotel entertainment goes they were pretty good.
Hope to visit again some time in the future.

This was by far the nicest hotel we have stayed in. Where do i start?!
The entrance foyer as you go into the hotel was breath taking. A big stone fountain, high stained glass ceiling, loads of greenery, and that's not even mentioning the really friendly greeting we got. Even though we didn't arrive until 2am we were greeted by very efficient and smiley staff with champagne or orange juice.
We found the rooms of the hotel to be spotless, nicely decorated and with very well thought out instructions for everything you could possibly need!
The food in the hotel was incredible! So so so many things to choose from it was impossibe to try everything even though we were there for 2 weeks! Champagne, caviar and smoked salmon for breakfast!!! Maybe we're just commoners not used to being spoilt like this, but we found it very impressive! Dinner was just as amazing, offering options from the more unusual, to fish fingers and chips fot the less adventurous!
The helpfulness and friendliness of every member of staff we came across was the thing that impressed us most about this hotel. Alwasys on the go and willing to please whilst still being approachable and making sure that all our questions were answered.
Can't carry on as it would be ridiculous to write any more! All i can say is definately go there!!!

I have been reading up on this hotel through this website for about 5 months before going to make myself believe this would be the perfect place to go!!
This was my boyfriend and I's first holiday together as a couple and we couldn't have asked for any better. The food was amazing and seeing as I am a VERY fussy eater, I never went hungry. The staff were more than helpful and made us feel very welcome, especially Dante the barman.
The room was perfect, though double beds there are 2 singles where we managed to lose our passports and flight tickets home on our first day!! That was a bad moment but we had been travelling a long time and just crashed out and our passports and tickets fell in between both beds. Nightmare, but worked out fine!
We managed to use the spa too. I highly recommend the spa to anyone wnating a little quiet time and relaxation. My boyfriend and I also managed to book ourselves in for a fab massage too. The pools were beautiful and were never overly busy and we always managed to find ourselves a sunlounger.
On most days we sat around the pool with a cocktail from the bar, but if you do venture out to the marina (which you must because it's gorgeous) make sure you go to the market on the Friday and be sure to barter.
My one piece of advice is that if you were interested in Island hopping, make sure you book this through your rep. We went on this holiday to celebrate by boyfriend's birthday and also the fact that we have just bought our own 1st home together. My travel agents said that they don't do little trips like this, so I booked a day trip to Tenerife to see Mount Teide from an online site for my boyfriend's birthday as a surprise. This site let us down on many occasions and we were also the only Engish couple on the tour. I then found out from our rep that she could have done the same trip cheaper and with only English people and English tour guide. But this is nothing the hotel could have prevented!
All in all, this holiday was the best we could imagine and we are booking the return visit for two weeks instead of one for next summer. I highly recommend this hotel.

My fiance and I have just returned from a week at Cordial Mogan. We are both in our mid 30's and were looking for a week away in the sun to relax. We couldnt have picked a better place! The hotel and grounds are beautiful we were impressed from the second we arrived.
The rooms were lovely, spacious and cleaned everyday.
The food was brilliant, Im confident even the fussiest of eaters would find something they liked. We never had any problems with service, most of the staff were cheery and very helpful (of course that will always depend on how you treat them!)
We went down to the pool most days after 10am and always found loungers in good spots. There are 2 jacuzzis which were great for even more relaxation!
The pool bar drinks and snacks are quite expensive but there are 2 supermarkets just a couple of minutes walk away.
There is a small beach just before you get to the marina (10 mins walk) we only spent one day there but never seamed to get crowded. The marina itself is very pretty and nice to walk around if youve had enough sunbathing. There is also a market on Fridays which is well worth a visit (its HUGE!)
In summary this place is perfect for a quiet relaxing week in the sun. We had a great time and wouldnt hesitate in recommending it to anyone!

My wife and I as with another reviewer were booked into the appartments but as they were unfinished we agreed to go half board in the hotel itself.
Either a lot of people were on trips during the day or the hotel was far from full. There were no problems getting a sunbed during the day whatsoever. People were turning up around lunchtime and still finding plenty to choose from. Being in a valley the sun doesn't really hit the pool areas until 10am - so we took the opportunity after breakfast to go to the Dino's supermarket (turn right out of reception 3 minute walk) and stock up on cold beer, wine & water which we then kept in a cool bag (either bring your own or buy one at the supermarket) and it lasted us most of the day by the pool - Most drinks at the pool bar were expensive, although at 5 euros each the cocktails were pretty good and the measurers very generous. The fridge in our room didn't have an ice compartment, nor did the lock work. Before paying for the fridge up front check first as it may already be open.
The food in the hotel was excellent, so much so that we didn't eat out once. Breakfast was 7.30 - 10.30am. We went to the gym first (no treadmill and limited weights) and got there about 9.00am most mornings - the selection was huge fruit, yoghurts, fry up, omlettes & crepes cooked to order, cold meats etc. etc. No doubt it is frowned upon but many people including ourselves made up rolls & took fruit for lunch and no one said anything.
Dinner is in two sittings 6.30pm or 8.30pm - the later slot appeared to have considerably less younger children at it and were mostly couples / groups of adults. Again the selection was huge and no limit to how many times you could go back for 2nds / 3rds!!
After dinner we tended to go back to our room and only went to the bar on our last night as we were flying out late at night and had checked out - the entertainment was dire (a poor man's Butlins) and again, the drinks pricey.
The hotel itself was superb, very clean with lots of interesting unusual features. We have teenage kids and had they come with us they may have found it a little quiet. Would recommend pool 2 - the one furthest from reception if you want peace and quiet - it was mostly couples / groups of adults. Pool one seemed to have more families around it.
Morgan itself was very small & quiet. we only vetured into the port (no more than a 10minute walk - if that using the back gate) on a couple of occasions. The beach attracted mostly locals at the weekend - it is also very small and not very good for swimming.
In conclusion a great holiday & a great hotel.
Warning we paid around £250 per head (for the appartments) where as most around us had paid £500 - £600 per head per week. More if they were in a suite. If the hotel was full and all the appartments were up and running & all using the same facilities it might have been a different story.
If You Can Get A Good Price Fantastic Week In The Sun!!”

Very short and sweet review for you I'm sure you don't need a life story here!
Great hotel, fantasitc setting in resort of Puerto Mogan (known locally as Little Venice as it is all set on canals in and around the port). There are loads of cobbled streets and dozens of restaurants to wander round in the evening.
If you're looking for nightclubs and all night bar action, you are looking at the wrong resort big time! There is evening entertainment on stage at the hotel every night from 10pm. However, it is laughably bad, I mean really really bad! Fun for a while tho...
Food is a buffet for breakfast and dinner. If you're staying half board, you have two sitting times 6:30 or 8:30. You are allocated a sitting for your first night depending on what is busy that night. However, you can change your sitting time if you wish (contrary to what other reviewers have said on here). I would recommend going for the later sitting as if you go for the earlier sitting, you have to be out of the restaurant by 8pm. The later sitting has no other diners afterwards so you can take as long as you like. The quality of food is great at breakfast and average at dinner. You will be able to find something for everyone.
We hired bikes from the hire shop down the road from the hotel as it is cheaper than the hotel. What wasn't made clear is that any road out of the resort is on a very steep incline. It is very difficult and dangerous to cycle as the road is a thin, windy road up a mountain. It is fun but really hard work, you have been warned especially as none of the locals seem bothered about driving sensibly.
We booked the self catering apartments but unfortunately, they were not ready. Howver, we were upgraded to the hotel. The apartments are nearly finished but I would recommend double checking where you will be staying if you have booked the apartments.
.
Swimming pools and jacuzzis are great. Shooting, tennis lessons etc are on offer. Great staff, great rooms. Be aware that a double room will be 2 single beds puxhed together. Maid service is excellent, daily towel change, rooms serviced every morning without fail.
Sun loungers can be a bit of a battle in the mornings. YOu can go out at 8 AM only to find that there are loads of towels down reserving loungers already!!
I would really recommend this resort. Shop around on price, we found places quote very different pices for this resort. If you are after nightclubs and bars this is not the resort for you. However, if you want a pretty resort, plenty of restaurants, friendly locals and a great hotel, then this is the one for you.
Very relaxing stay

WOW! We were due to stay in the apartments but were transferred to this wonderful hotel on half board,(what a result.)
From the moment we walked into the reception area to the moment we checked out we felt like royalty,we were totally spoilt.
We had two rooms for our family of four which did'nt have very good views, but had connecting gardens which was great.
The maid came every day,the rooms were very clean with mini fridge but no tea or coffee making facilities.
The most beautiful thing about this hotel is the fantastic gardens and two large pools. The food was good ,plenty to choose from including sparkling wine for breakfast. when we stayed we had no problem finding sun beds by pool, mainly couples and family's with younger children staying so nice and quiet. It's a short walk to the beach and harbour with plenty of places to eat and drink.
We really fell on our feet being transfered which may reflect in this great review, had we paid the hotel price we maybe would'nt have been quite as delighted.

My family and I have just returned from a one week half-board stay at the Cordial Mogan Playa booked through First Choice.
Despite night flights and arriving at the hotel at 3:00 the welcome was friendly and efficient. The reception area is very impressive with a high stained glass central dome with bridges, waterfalls, streams and fountains, clock and bell tower all inside the building. After a simple check-in we were taken to our two adjacent rooms which we had requested but were not guaranteed by First Choice. This was nice to know that we would all be close.
The rooms are very well appointed. They each had two single beds which were put together to look like a double. They were simple to pull apart slightly so that our teenage boy and girl didn't feel like they were sharing a bed.
Each room had a TV with a mixture of channels (typically English channels are generally news or Eurosport though). A small balcony with chairs and table and drying rack overlooked the gardens and pool area. Each room also had a fridge (you have to pay at reception for a key to use this though) and a safe (also local charge made). The rooms have aircon; a couple of arm chairs; table; fruit, wine and water on arrival; modern bathroom with overbath shower and a vanity door to the toilet. The hallway to the bedroom has a separate door to isolate the bathroom and cupboards. The rooms are decorated to a high standard and are very clean.
The hotel grounds are beautiful with plants, shrubs and trees labelled like a garden centre. There are two large pools, each very similar with a bridge across them and served by bar/restaurants at each. We never had a problem finding four sunbeds together and these always had a parasol nearby. The sunbeds have really thick and comfortable cushions too. You also get a clean poolside towel every day per person so you don't need to take your own beach towel. The artificial sand around selected areas of the pool was more like decorative pea gravel so a little hard on the feet, but it looked good. There are plenty of paved areas though too.
There is also a spa on site but we didn't use it because the weather was good and the pools themselves are so nice.
We were half-board and breakfast and dinner were taken in the main restaurant. These are both buffet style, but the choice is vast and the chefs cook breakfast items and meat and fish in front of you to order. We were very happy with the food. If a dish was starting to look empty it was quickly taken away and a full replacement quickly put out. The breakfast pancakes were our children's favourites and I particularly liked the fish. The evening meals were in two sittings, but there was never a feeling of being rushed. You can even have Cava at breakfast - limitless bottles out to serve yourself.
The animation team were around but never intrusive. In fact my son who hates kids clubs loved the activities on offer. We did several tennis sessions, football, target shooting, table tennis and loved it. When we were there only about four or five guests took part in the activities so it was very friendly and fun.
There is also a "night club" with evening entertainment. To be honest this was the only negative thing about the hotel. When we were there the entertainers were pretty dodgy and they should look at getting more variety. The trio were hopeless, but it kept us amused laughing at how bad they were, but some people seemed to like them - each to their own!
Mogan itself is quiet - not much night life in April, but OK to wander down to the marina in the evening. Not like the other in-your-face resorts on Gran Canaria. However, after a day by the pool and eating later in the evening we were so chilled out we didn't want to party all night.
There is a small shopping development opposite the hotel (only a few units open) with a decent underground supermarket - ideal for stocking up your in-room fridge.
All in all, if you want a high quality relaxing holiday, then the Cordial would be an ideal choice.

My hubby and I booked this hotel (first time in Gran Canaria) for a week without knowing anything about it. Travelling with my parents (who are in their 60's) and being 6 months pregnant I started to worry on the transfer to the hotel that it was going to be a nightmare - but wow what a lovely hotel - and not a hill to walk up to get there!
On arrival we were greeted with sparkling wine and a warm welcome - it was speedy and the reception area was lovely. We really couldn't fault our rooms - clean, modern and we had a view of the pool. (There was wine and fruit on arrival too which was a nice touch)
Food - a good range, we didn't have a bad meal - buffet style means you make your own mistakes! We did dine out one evening in the harbour area which was delightful too. Service at the hotel bar was a little slow but we were on holiday - what was the rush!
Entertainment - there was something on every night - pretty much what you expect in a 'resort' so no complaints there either.
Location was superb - in easy walk of the harbour and there is lots available to do and see in Puerto de Mogan.
Would highly reccommend this hotel to anyone planning a rest ( you don't need to go outside it!) - we will defo go back again and would have no doubts about bringing a young family there either.

My wife and I stayed at the Cordial Mogan Playa for two weeks in March 2008.
Our transfer from the airport was interminable - I was so gald we had arranged a car for the second week with an airport drop off.
On arrival the hotel look super and we were dealt with at check-in promptly and politely. The reception/main buildiing was very imposing.
Rooms are in 7 main buildings plus some smaller ones for suites and are comfortable, large, clean and well equipped.
Breakfast and dinner are in the main restuarant - which also has a large conservatory area overlooking a large pond and waterfall.
You can opt for lunch instead on a day-by-day basis and that is served in a separate restaurant by one fo the swimming pools. Food was of a very good standard (buffet style) with lots of choice and constantly re-stocked buffet tables.
There was also an option for the A La Carte restaurant at a very reasonable supplement.
There are two swimming pools, both with bar/snackbar and - thank goodness - ample sunbeds.
Service throughout our stay was excellent and I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to anyone.
Puerto Mogan is probably the only unspoilt resort on the island. Let us hope they manage to keep it that way - all the others have become like a version of Blackpool-in-the-sun.
There is a lovely little port, good restaurants, some shopping and a large outdoor market each Friday (get there early before all the tour buses arrive!!

OK felt I had to write a real review for this hotel. Before I booked this i looked at the reviews on here and was a bit concerned really, but again I like to make my own opinion and there were a lot of good reviews as well as some bad ones. I think it is a case of you get what you pay for. We were fortunate to have a junior suite and I actually took the time to ring the hotel direct and request a suite on the ground floor in a quiet area non smoking ( i had just been diagnosed with lung disease so couldnt manage too many stairs etc) the receptionist also said she would get me a nice sunny terrace/garden.
When we arrived we had the most amazing room with a beautiful garden area which had the sun all day, it was quiet and perfect, we couldnt have wished for better if we had tried.
The hotel is lovely but a little busy due to late opening of the apartments I agree that the pool was busy etc, we did go to the beach a few days and that was fairly quiet really.
We exchanged the voucher for lunch instead of dinner and were spoilt for choice for eating out in the evening some of the best meals we have had on holiday.
This was a perfect place to just chill and relax and I would not hesitate at all in recommending it to you, but it is worth paying a bit more if you can for a suite. You get to eat in the quieter restaurant too.

Clean all over, nice and extremelyt serviceminded staff that come running everytime you need them, BEAUTIFUL garden with all sorts of flowers and plants with small cute name tags, big nice and beautiful pool areas, excellent breakfast, beautiful buildings with nice, good taste interior in good condition.
The only thing that I didn't like was the stupid rough sand (small stones almost) that they had put some places around the pool and on the childrens playground. It was really not nice and very annoying to walk on bare foot. It hurt. Stupid idea and I hope that they will replace it with some normal sand soon.
We stayed in a junior suite, because we were travelling with our 3-year-old daughter and she went to bed earlier than us. It was nice that she could go to bed and we could still stay up.
The suites were placed in the far end of the hotel garden (which is HUGE) and as far away from the reception as you could go, but fortunately really close to the beach, because there was a door directly to the street in that end.
That also meant that we stayed 3 minutes away from the super market and the shops and the first restaurants.
Right outside our door was a fish pond with plenty of gold fish, a fountain and a little bridge. My daughter loved to stay there and watch the fish.
The place/city/puerto is perfect. We took a boat trip to Puerto Rico one day, but we hurried back again
P. Rico had no personality at ALL!
Puerto de Mogan has all the things that we were looking for. Most of all, local spanish people.
Just the fact that we still saw the locals on the streets and on the plazas, says everything. This is a cosy place where real (not only tourists) people live and enjoy life.
We love the fact that we could feel where we were and it wasn't not just ordinary touristic athmosphere.
In touristic places like Puerto Rico, you wouldn't know if you are on the Canaries, Majorca, Turkey or...
It is obvious that new places are being built in this bay, and I don't like to think about how the place will look in 5 years from now.
I hope it keeps it charm and authentic style.
Try it now!

Decided to book this hotel after reading reviews on Trip Advisor. We were not disappointed this is a 1st class hotel. We were a party of six, husband, myself, son and family (two girls aged three and one) they were well catered for with very helpfull staff. Would recommend this hotel and resort they are both worth a visit.

We had read all the reviews on Trip Advisor and decided that Puerto de Mogan was the place for us to get some peace and quiet. It was our first trip to the Gran Canary's and I have to say the transfer from the airport made us think we may have chosen the wrong place, but once we arrived at the hotel and had a chance to wander around we were thankful that our fears were groundless.
Whilst registering at reception we soon realised that if the service shown there was to continue we had found somewhere a bit special, all the hotel staff continued to show a caring and wish to please attitude, the hotel was sparkingly clean and the grounds were a joy to walk round. We soon learned that it is better to exchange the evening meal for a lunchtime voucher to eat in the blue house, then eat if we wished to in the harbour area at night.
Puerto de Mogan harbour area was very pretty and very little hassling to buy (apart from the market traders), the cafe's all appeared to offer something so every taste should be catered for, we were never disappointed with the meals we had.
Down sides I guess was the regimented lines of sun soakers and a bit of a scramble during the meals we attended in the evening, but as you can see we worked a way around that and enjoyed every minute.

We returned from Puerto Mogan three weeks ago and stayed at the Cordial Mogan. Its a lovely hotel, food good and the facilities are very good. It's spotlessly clean and the staff are very friendly. I recommend the hotel and the resort is just lovely. The harbour area has a lot of charm and is certainly the little Venice as described. Great holiday

Me and my boyfriend came here for our first holiday away. we booked this hotel due to fact of its good rating and good reviews on this website.
We had an excellent time here, the hotel and it's grounds were immaculate, pool was very clean, staff were at the reception 24/7 and helped you with everything! They also speak very good english.
The food was lovely. Fresh food everyday and more than enough choice! Fresh fish, steak, chicken, fruit and veg were available everyday.
The room was great although the aircon wasn't brilliant. Maid service everyday.
Although I would recommend a walk round the harbour and going to the market on friday! Be prepared to barter... they are! I wouldnt recommend visting puerto rico! Very commercial and people always trying to drag you in everywhere. You cannot relax!!
I would defineatly good again. The best hotel I have been too!
