Just back from a week in the sun 30 Jan to 6 Feb. We had a fabulous break - apartment is large, comfortable, well equipped and we had an enormous terrace which was very private where we sunbathed every day. Great supermarket across the road, the town is beautiful and a huge number of restaurants to choose from (I'm vegetarian). Try the Patio at the harbour for DIY tomato bread and fantastic canarian potatoes with mojo sauce! I will stay at the apartments again, the only issue is with a lack of information at the hotel. Nothing is easy to find, I've still no idea what the Spa offers and its a complicated layout.

All you need to relax & unwind after the bustle of normal life. A spacious, comfortable ,clean and well equipped appartment in a well maintained complex. The gardens are superb, the public areas clean and modern and all the staff we met were friendly, helpful and efficient. Situated as it is opposite a well stocked supermarket but only a pleasant stroll from the beach and the delightful harbour with its' selection of shops and restuarants there really was nothing to spoil a week of pure relaxation.
The only question for this year is when to go - where we are going is not in doubt!

Just back from a one week stay over new year week. Apartments very well clean and maintained to a high standard. Rooms were cleaned 5 times week and towels changed 3 times a week. Communal areas were spotlessly clean and the outdoor heated pool was fantastic. (The children's pool and the infinity pool are not heated so in January are a little bracing)
Staff were very friendly and accomodating and nothing was too much trouble.
There is an excellent and well stocked supermarket outside the front door, distance to Puerton Mogan is a 15 minute stroll along a pedestrian area and is flat for pushchairs and wheelchair users. Excellent restaurants in the harbour include La Tortuga and Cafe de Mogan. I will certainly be looking to book again for next year.

We had stayed in the resort twice before, so obviously like it (relatively peaceful and relaxed). On our second visit we often walked past this new development of apartments as the builders applied the final touches, and figured they would be just right for us when finished - and got it right. The seafront is an easy stroll away, as is the harbour area with all its restaurants; but some days we stayed on our own terrace to soak up the sun or ventured to one of three pool areas for some relaxation. And some evenings we bought a bit of fish at the neighbouring supermarket and ate in - the kitchens are just about good enough for a simple meal. Living area and bedroom functional, ceiling fans effective at this time of year, bathroom spacious enough. Maid service 5 times a week is unusually good for self catering, reception staff most helpful (glass of bubbly at check-in, bottle of bubbly on birthday). It seems to attract a broad mix of nationalities, all of whom were polite. And it has attracted us back for another trip next April, booked already.

have just returned for a week selfcatering at the CMV. The weather was fantastic and the apartments were just perfect.
We had a 2 bed apartment. It was huge. 2 bedrooms one had two single beds pushed together and plenty of wardrobe space. The other had the biggest bed ever and had an ensuite. There is also another full bathroom. The kitchen living room had a pull out sofa which consisted of two seperate single beds. Can't comment on food as we only had drinks one night in hotel bar. We cooked breakfast and lunch in the kitchen and ate out most evenings. The kitchen is just perfect. Had kettle, toaster, microwave, utensils and cuttlery. All were new and worked perfectly. Cleaning staff came nearly every day. Supermarket is straight across the road.
Only gripe would be the swimming pools-they were freezing. Could do with some heating up. There are 3 pools in the complex with only one of these having a childrens pool. We were staying in the top left hand side of the complex and by the time we would get down to the childrens pool it would be completely full. So my 3 year old only spent one day there. The rest were spent at the pool nearest to our apartment.
Aircon would also be a lovely addition to the apartments as the ceiling fans do little to cool down the rooms.
All in all a fantastic holiday. Mogan is a beautiful little piece of heaven. Beach is small but lovely. Don't think i saw one drunk person there. Fantastic for those looking for a relaxing break.

Wonderful trip to Mogan. The place really is a gem and you feel like you are part of a secret club that knows and protects this resort from becoming over commercialised like all the other spots on the island. Hotel great , clean, service super and balcony magnificent. entertainment at nite is fairly rubbish but no harm really as keeps the noise levels down. the beach is wonderful, water crisp and clear and the surrounding area is a hive of little bars and cafes. the best place was the little 'sun terrace snack bar'' on the left hand side as you walk down from the mogan valle. it advertises bbq and wine for 12 euros and is well worth a trip. its run by a young guy who has had the place for the last year and is a great mix of superb food, nice ambience , singing by the locals and a chilled out vibe that makes you not want to go home. loved the whole experience and we all agree we will return asap.

I stayed at the Cordial Mogan Valle Apartments for a week in September 2009. I was really impressed with the standard of accommodation throughout, from reception, public areas and apartments, I couldn't fault a thing! Staff were also fantastic.
It's quite a big complex but doesn't feel too busy or loud. I went for a relaxing holiday - wasn't disappointed. Three swimming pools to choose from so again, not too busy and sunbeds always available, even in the afternoon.
Gym and spa both fantastic, good value for money!
We only ate there once as we preferred to eat out. At the cafe on level 2/3, we had burger & chips each, 2 cokes for only 9 euro.
Supermarket directly opposit so you can make good use of the kitchen facilities within your apartment. 5-10 minute walk to beach/harbour area with plenty fab restaurants.
I would definitely recommend these apartments! If you don't like self-catering, you can also do Bed & Breakfast or Half Board.

We have just returned from a stay in Cordial Mogan Valle. Beautiful apartment with a fabulous large balcony. We had the no problem with lifts. Got the hang of them straight away. Good proximity to harbour and beach. Great choice of restaurants. Favourites were the Clipper Italian in corner of square. Caravagio - lovely eating experience. The Zoo lovely but a bit pricey. Denny's Irish bar. Very pleasant and easy walk to all these venues. Only one complaint 6 Euro for glass of wine in apartment bar and restaurant.

We are just back from a great week in Puerto de Mogan. The Cordial Mogan Valle was one of the best apartments we have ever stayed in. We had a one bedroom apartment which was very spacious and comfortable. Because of the good weather we hardly used the dining and lounge area - but it was there if we wanted it. The balcony was huge!! had a small table with 4 chairs (bigger apartments had more chairs) plus two comfortable sun loungers. We were on the 9th floor but that is not as horrendous as it sounds. We only took the lift out of the reception area(which is large and modern and air-conditioned) up 3 floors and walked up the rest of the short flights of steps to our floor. We like the top floor accommodation as we soon realised that no-one could overlook us but we did overlook the floor below.
The pool we used was on the 3rd floor so was convenient for our apartment. It was a normal rectangular pool with no kiddie facilities - but as we have none that was OK. When we were there it was quite quiet and when a group of children arrived later in the week we suddenly realised we had been spoiled by the lack of shrieks etc. There are 3 pools so there are always other options. The pool in the northern area of the complex is free form and has a small children's pool and play area - we did not use this at all despite the fact that it had a bar near it so cannot comment on the snack or drink prices.
We had been told that the other pool was not available but there was certainly a third pool when we were there - in the southern end of the complex. Everything around the 3rd floor pool was clean and pleasant and the loungers were comfortable. The non slip surface around the pool was good if a little bit prickly on my bare feet and there were two showers available at this pool.
We only used the bar/salon area once, on our last evening as we were hanging around waiting for our late departure. It is a comfortable area but a gin and tonic did cost 6euros and a beer 3euros. So I am glad that we had our own duty free G&T.
The actual town is very pretty once you get down to the beach/harbour area. The beach has plenty of space with loungers and parasols if you want them. We only used them once and it cost us 9euros for two loungers and one parasol. The streets around the harbour are pretty and the restaurants around the marina are good - we tried a different one every night and were always pleased. I am a vegan so sometimes finding a place which can cater for my difficult requests can be quite a challenge but this did not prove to be the case in Puerto Mogan. There was a jazz festival on when we were there so it was nice to sit around at the end of the evening and relax and listen to the band who were playing in the band stand in the square. It seems to be something sponsored by the Irish Marina Bar and is Trad Jazz so is easy listening. From a notice board I saw that they have this event a few times a year. Eating out every night is a bit of an extravagance and did prove more costly for us this year but there are only two of us and it was a holiday.
You could easily eat in the apartment as eating out on the balcony would have been very pleasant. There were two rings, a microwave, a kettle and a toaster in the very modern kitchen area.
There is a modern shopping complex across the road from the apartments which is handy for the Dino Hypermarket. Unfortunately the credit crunch seems to have affected the take up of the units and only very few of them are open. We did eat in the Taj Indian Restaurant one night and it was good and the cheapest meal we had all week, 50 euros for both of us, including a good wine.
As you can see we both loved Puerto Mogan and the Cordial Valle apartments are recommended, I just wish there had been more shade on the walk down to the harbour area it was hot as you would expect, perhaps when the shrubs and trees have grown a bit more there will be more shade available. I just hope they do not over-develop this resort once the "crunch" subsides as it is just perfect at the moments (apart from the half started building sites).

Did not know what to expect when we booked this holiday but we were not disappointed. Have visited Puerto Mogan before but never stayed for a holiday so did not know if it would be too quiet a place. Read similar reviews of the appartments and found that the general complaint was that it was difficult to find your room initially but we had no problem whatsoever even though it was late at night when we arrived after a flight delay. Staff very helpful , appartments a really good size, pool areas very pleasant. We stayed bed and breakfast for our stay and dining was good. Cant wait to go back again and would definitely recommend for a quiet relaxing holiday.

These apartments are very well appointed, with lots of maintenance going on to keep them fresh. The three pools are good with plenty of sun loungers, the infinity pool having reopened at the end of our stay. The 2 bed apartment was very comfortable ,and being near the top of the block we had a massive balcony, big enough for 4 sun loungers a table, outdoor shower etc. You can hire air conditioning at about 120 euros for two weeks, well worth even with a bit of breeze being up the hill. The number of lifts can be confusing due to the gradient of the hill with the apartments layout being up the hillside, they are vital though as two of our party had foot injuries at some time during the break (no fault of the resort). The staff were friendly and helpful too. Puerto Mogan is a very nice resort, especially by the harbour with a good choice of quality restaurants and no English pub type places. The Friday market is worth a visit for all manner of goods. The beach is clean and close to lots of bars etc. Opposite the apartments we can recommend the Indian restaurant

An Expedia Traveler,

I visited this hotel in June 2009, and was prepared to be slighly disapointed with the hotel in comparison to the photos online. However it was far better than expected. The pictures do not do this hotel justice. On our arrival we were greeted with a glass of cava each and given the room we requested on a high floor with excellent directions - and had no problem finding the room. (we were given a map to follow) The room was spotless and had everything we needed for a self catering holiday. In comparison to most hotel rooms or apartments it was quite big with plenty of space. The best feature was definatly the balcony with 2 sun loungers a small table, a large table with 4 chairs and an outdoor shower. The view from the room was also great.
We chose a room on a high floor - we were floor 9 at the very top. If you plan to spend a lot of time on the balcony i would recommend a high floor as some are shaded by balconys above.
There are two ceiling fans one in the bedroom the other in the living room/kitchen, we left one key in the room to keep the fans going while we were out, and the doors open when we were in to circulate air which worked ok. Theres plenty of storage space in the apartments in comparison to other hotels with two wardrobes with pelnty of hangers, and 3 drawers in the bedroom.
Great laundry facilities right beside the pool, with 2 washers and 2 dryers.
The hotel was very quiet and plenty of sunloungers around the 3 pools - which were quite cold. Plus the kids pool. And no pool was particularly busy and therefore very relaxing.
The staff make this hotel, the reception staff were more than friendly, and did anything possible to help you. The animation team were great and made the stay even more enjoyable. Entertainment at the weekends was good except for the 60s band on saturday nights which we avoided.
Rooms are cleaned throughly on a regular bases with no cleaning on a sunday or thursday, however extra towels are left the day before. 14 euro desposit for the safe each week, and 30 euro for the tv remote - which is refunded when the remote is returned.
Only problem we had was ants in the bed one night, however the sofa in the living room folded out into two singles, we slept there for one night and within 30minutes after telling reception the next morning the bedding was changed and the room cleaned.
Late checkout is available for 25 euro, but you need to ask this on the day you leave and not before, however we were given a courtesy room for 45 minutes on leaving with no charge but you must also book this on the morning of your departure.
The gym in the hotel is less than adequate (from my partners opinion) however he went to the gym across the street 10 euro for one week membership which was much better in equipment and value.
Hiperdino is much cheaper than the spar, however both the indian and buger bar across the street do cheap meals to sit in and take away.
Puerto Mogan is beautiful and much less "tacky" than the other resorts. It was out first stay in Gran Canaria and from seeing the other resorts i would safely say i would never stay in them and would always opt for puerto mogan.
The market on fridays is a great way to fill a morning and it stretches the whole way around the harbour. Theres a great artist selling his own paintings of mogan and other resorts at the end of the harbour at the last stall for resonable prices.
Great italian restaurant in the square in Puerto Mogan - the clipper (tucked away in the corner with a football shirt up inside) Great pizza and pasta for reasonable prices. (we both ate with one glass of wine/beer for 35 euro)
Overall this was a great holiday and we didn't want to leave, and would return again many times!
I tried to find faults with this hotel on our return home, and i am very fussy, however i could'nt find a single problem with the hotel - it was perfect.

We are a couple in our early 50s, so the following is based on our frame of reference
Start with slight negative on these apartments, as many have said before can be confusing to find your room on arrival, lots of lifts and floors, just follow the map supplied on arrival and will be ok. Apartments are less than a year old and are to a very high standard, balconys large and ideal for sunbathing. 3 pools, sun hits them from 11am omwards. Staff were extremely helpful and friendly. We were self catering so cannot comment on standard of food. Will definitley return to this hotel, Definately 4 star.
Supermarket Dino opposite complex stocks every thing you would need for a SC holiday. Also in same shopping mall a bar with entertainment nightly, Spar supermarket slightly cheaper than Dino and more choice 5 mins walk towards resort centre.
Resort beach and harbour approx 15 mins walk along very attractive tree lined avenue.Beach clean with a number of resturants within mitres of the sand. Harbour is lined with resturants and is without question the perfect setting for an evening meal. During the day ferrys arrive and depart every 10 minutes or so, therefore lots of day trippers, but in the evening less busy and nice atmosphere. Eating out similar prices to UK. No chavs or idiots in union jack shorts trying to drink the world dry here (go to P Rico for clubs, time share touts etc), just easy going people chilling out in fantastic surroundings. Bandstand in harbour area surrounded by resturants, had live entertainment (jazz band) while we were there, great atmoshere, with couples dancing in the warm spring evening.
Mogan: the contrast between the other resorts we travelled through from the airport is startling. This resort is without question the jewel in this islands crown, We would not consider anywhere else in the Canaries. A fantastic holiday, we have travelled the Med extensively and done most of the Greek islands, but this special. Enjoy

We had a brilliant time at the Cordial Mogan Valle, despite the fact it was really quiet, despite being Easter break.
We stayed self-catering in a spacious, clean and comfortable two bedded apartment. The master bedroom had an en-suite with corner bath and there was another, smaller bathroom next to the smaller bedroom. The kitchen has a hob and microwave, a fridge and plenty of storage space. The loung was comfortable enough to relax in when it got a bit chilly.
The pool areas are great. The larger pool with the kids "spitting snakes" was fun and better than the average kid's pool. There is a small play area, with slide and a game for the kids to play, it was more of a meeting point for adventure games than anything else. We also used the infinity pool, which was lovely, but not the third pool.
We ate in the restaurant twice (first night and a night in between when we really couldn't be bothered to do anything!) The food was plentiful and hot, as was breakfast on our first morning. I would imagine it got a little repetitive though, if half board. Drinks were expensive, but with "Hiper-dino" across the way it is easy to but drinks for around the pool. The bar at night had poor entertainment, but we had fun with the kids and other parents. The Animation Team work really hard to keep up and get those that want to moving - the cocktail game was good fun and ranged from making paper aeroplanes to spitting ice cubes. The bar is expensive though, and sometimes takes forever to get served despite not having many customers.
The walk into town took between ten and fifteen minutes, if you have small children get them to walk on one colour fish only - worked a treat for us! The beach restaurants and harbour ones are fantastic. We didn't have a bad meal, will post a review in the foody bit, but Cafe de Mogan and the Canarian restaurant on the square with the wooden barrels were our favourite.
Some people have talked about the difficulty finding their way around - it was great fun watching new arrivals fall out! Two tips - the lift by the infinity pool takes you to reception and the one by the pool tables near the bar takes you (via two lifts) to the main pool. Access to the third pool is from the infinity pool! Just remember that D is your block, the first number your floor and the last two numbers your room! So D925 is black D, Floor 9 room 25 (925).
Spa was great too, I had a brilliant massage.
We had a great time and would return in an instant. Any questions feel free to message me.

We were plesantly surprised by the size and quality of the apartments. They were very clean and had tasteful decor. The balcony was huge with 2 sun loungers and a table with 4 chairs. Our apartment was in block J room 537 which was the block nearest the sea. I would suggest when booking you ask for an apartment on a high floor with a sea view and you won't be disappointed. We had 2 single beds pushed together but understand that some rooms do have double beds on request.
The entertainment was poor and the bar was very expensive. We ate in one of the many lovely restaurants in Puerto Mogan. Our favourites include El Capuchino (excellent fish)and La Bodequilla (tapas) if you want to splash out. We did go into the hotel next door a couple of nights for the entertainment which was better. The resort itself was quiet after 11 at night so if you want a good night life don't come here.
Would definetly return to these apartments.

We drove from the airport to Puerto Mogan in about 45 minutes, with the apartment complex very easy to find and plenty of parking close by. A very welcoming check-in process (aided by glass of Cava). The receptionist gave detailed instructions to find the room although they were not entirely accurate. However we soon found the quickest way to/from the room & stuck with it. The infinity pool being centrally located is very easy to find, while the other two on the ground floor take a bit more hunting. The one bedded apartment was fine with a reasonably spacious bathroom. The kitchen was reasonably well equipped, however while a corkscrew was provided, wine glasses were not and the bar wanting a €10 deposit to borrow a couple for a day! We had an L shaped balcony which while not as large as some in the complex was fine for two people, but any more would have a problem. While we were relatively high up on the F7 level there was not much of a view, only the roof of the apartment in front of us and a side view of the sea in the distance. A 10 min walk to the main part of the village where there are plenty of bars & restaurants. In the evening we preferred the area around the marina as there was much more atmosphere than in the restaurants that fronted the beach. We had opted for B&B which saved having to go to the nearby supermarket every morning and while the breakfast buffet had plenty to chose from, the restaurant was a bit canteen like and quite noisy with young children. In summary a good place to go to catch some winter sun, but not sure how robust the apartment furnishings will prove to be.

Took off on time from East Midlands and arrived 30mins early. Easy to find transfer bus due to efficient Thomson’s rep(s). 45 min transfer (only one other stop in Taurito) then had an hour wait for room to be ready. Free fizzy wine and orange provided then went for a look around. At least two couples (only staying for a week) where transferred to the hotel (Mogan Playa) including meals at no extra cost because the complex was full. One couple were happy with this but another couple only agreed if they could have a kettle! (which they provided). Back on time (2.00pm) and room ready. We asked for a key to the room safe and a TV remote. No mention at the time but on checking out was charged 28Euros for the safe for the two weeks, which thanks to TA we were expecting. We were not charged for TV remote.
Even though we thought we were well prepared for finding our rooms we weren’t! It is just an illogical and confusing layout. I have made an attempt at a method to find your way but it will be boring, confusing and probably a waste of time so I will post it at the bottom of this trip report.
The complex is now fully open with the restaurant fully functioning and the infinity pool completed. All reception staff speak very good English and are very friendly and helpful. We did not use the restaurant, as we ate out every night, but I think it was 7.50Euro for breakfast and 20Euro for dinner.
The rooms themselves are very, very nice with quirky furnishings but all very clean and still new looking. We had a very large balcony (8M x 8M) that had a proper table and chairs and sun beds (not the usual plastic) and an outside shower. Beware; it is obvious that not all balconies are as large as this! There seemed to be anything you would want provided for cooking etc. but as we ate out we didn’t use much. The only thing we missed were a couple of mugs (just small tea cups provided) for that essential morning coffee fix. The rooms were well cleaned each day (not Sunday and Thursday) by friendly staff although not so good with English although with our limited Spanish and their English we were able to talk.
About three times a week there is a show in the Bar Salon starting about 9.30 with I think kids activities just before. With one exception all were watchable and a couple of the shows were good with the kids (Acrucuba and Acrobatty.). One night of Ballet/flamenco dancing and one a waste of time, a trio Magic Sound. These stood for three plays doing nothing, sang about three songs and then disappeared for 35 mins and maybe more, we had left!
There are three pools. Two are at ground level one in each of the north and south sides. The one in the south side has a kid’s pool and seemed to be very busy and sun beds looked to be at a premium around this pool (this also gets the sun first at about 10.00am). The second in the north side was very quiet. The third pool (just recently opened) is an infinity pool on (main lifts) button three, in about the centre, and was very quiet all the time we were there (our rooms, on level 8, overlooked it two levels down). I think this is in part because it is 1.34M deep throughout its length and so discourages kids who cannot swim. This gets the sun about 10.45am. The south pool is accessible via the side gate (use your room card) this also leads to the Spa and outside bar.
Considering the apartments were full and it was half term we wondered where every one was as nothing (well perhaps the south pool) was busy.
The apartments are situated on the east side of a barranco at the top of the valley. There is a very pleasant paved (with fish pattern) walk-way to the port which is lined with gardens, palm and banana trees. Although it is about 15mins (25mins when you have relaxed after a couple of days!) to the port it is a very pleasant walk with no site or sound of cars until you reach the port. On the way down you pass first a large supermarket then a partially occupied shopping centre (with Indian and another restaurant), a gym, a school and finally a couple of shops and restaurants.
Don’t read this unless you can’t sleep!
The site is split notionally into north and south (nearest the sea) and you will be told which half you are in as well as given a map and directions. You will be given a room number like 815 but if you look at the key etc it will say e.g., B815. The important thing is to think of this as B8 (block B level 8) room #15. The first and obvious piece of advice is to follow your instructions, even if they seem “wrong”. There is a bank of three lifts, near to reception, and these are the ONLY lifts that connect (most) of the complex and reception. With one exception these are what you will use all the time. Button one puts you out at the restaurant and Bar Salon, button two is where you will be told to go to if you are in the north half and button three if you are in (most) of the south side. The north side has blocks A-D and levels 4 to 9 and the south side has blocks D-L and levels 1 to 9 (the south side stretching further down the hill side). If you could stand facing the apartments block A (levels 9,8 and 7) would be in the top left and block L (levels 3,2 and 1) would be to the bottom right with all the rest in order between.
If you are in the north turn right out of the lift at button two and walk along past the infinity swimming pool which will be above you, carry on round the end of the pool and then carry on passed the first of the lifts that you come to. These are the first of the 22 lifts that you could use but like many of the others these only go down and are used extensively by the maids etc. Now you need your block and level number. If you are in blocks A,B,C and half of D you need to find an up lift (usually hidden behind the lift shaft!). If in blocks G and H you need to find a down lift. You then need to find the level and then your room. If you get lost read from the signs what block and level you are on (it is backed in red) and then navigate to the correct block and level. E.g. if you find yourself at C7 you need to go up one level and across one block to get to B8. Your rooms will be somewhere off the corridor.
The south side has blocks (half of) D then E,F,I J K and L. As we were in the north side I am not quite so sure of these directions. If you are in blocks E,F.I and J leave the lift at button three and turn right for blocks E and F you need an up lift I and J a down lift then use the same navigation as above to find first your block and then your level and then your room. If you are in blocks K and L you need to go back out of the main door and left down the path that closely follows round the building till you get to a gate, use you room card to get through and then navigate from there. All staff are very willing to help and will help you locate your rooms. Don’t forget that to get back to reception you have to get to the bank of three lifts.
Common mistakes, seen through out our two week stay. As the three main lifts open in different directions you must follow your instructions (i.e. turn right or left) don’t use instinct! People going to the north side reach the end of the pool and try and use the first lift. People in the lower blocks of the south side go out the main door and turn right and not left (down the not very obvious path) and are seen trailing their cases up the road until they see that they can not get in and trail them back.
All that being said it took us about 15mins to find our room and you’ve then got the rest of your holiday to enjoy!
My brain hurts and I wish I hadn’t started this! If, when you have been, you can do a better job then PLEASE have a go.

Read all the reviews before we left so just wanted to add a few of my own. Loved our holiday here with two kids ages 6 and 10 months. We couldn't get a two bedroom apartment so ended up in a one bedroom and on the sofa-beds. These my partner found pretty uncomfortable. Used the cooking facilities for ready-steady cook like meals -using the two rings and microwave. Made full use of the laundry facilities despite the £4/3 charge- they are situated between blocks K and L. Ate out a fair bit and tried to ignore the prices. Enjoyed trips to the beach 15min away. Also enjoyed plenty of parking for hire car. And excellent "animations" in the morning for our 6 year old. Would definitely go back again.

A thoroughly enjoyable stay. The check in was trouble free with extremely friendly and helpful reception staff. Once we found our rooms, the layout can be a little tricky at first, we were pleasantly surprised by the size and standard. We stayed half board and the restaurant is a credit to the matre dee (Vladimir) and the waiters are the most friendly people I have come across in a long time. Puerto Mogan is lovely and we will be returning to the resort and the Mogan Valle very soon.

On arrival, a glass of sparkling wine awaited us in reception - just what was needed after a long journey. Other reviewers have made mention of the hard to understand layout of the apartments - now, instead of getting a map of the resort, the receptionist gives you a map of the apartments. Directions to our apartment were very concise and he had marked our apartment on the map as well so we had no problem navigating our way to our apartment. The apartment itself was clean and tidy and larger than many self catering apartments we have stayed in. Plenty of storage space and wooden hangers in the wardrobes. Pillows are not good - no spares in the apartment. Bathroom large and airy. Wash basin set in a vanity top so there was plenty of space with a large mirror over and plenty of light (often a problem in hotel rooms both here and overseas!). there is also a window in the bathroom! Because of the layout of the apartments, built down the side of a valley, each apartment has a really large balcony with table and four chairs together with two sun loungers and a small table. There is also a shower in one corner! Sun got to us around midday, so if you go down to the village in the morning for a coffee and spot of people watching, by the time you come back for lunch, the sun is on the balcony. Don't drink in the apartment complex - very expensive. a glass of wine (which was a small 18.5 ml bottle) and a small beer was nearly 9 euros - ie £9! There is entertainment every night - we came back for what was billed as a professional group - they would not have got through the preliminary rounds of X Factor!!!!!
Unusually, for an apartment complex, there is a spa and fitness centre. didn't try gym but did have a couple of treatments - very good. Only thing was that the spa was closed on Mondays and Saturdays when we were there.
The village is about a 10 minute stroll away down a wide paved pedestrian walkway with plenty of lighting so it was a pleasant stroll down to the harbour for morning coffee and then again for dinner in the evening - at least the walk stopped us being totally lazy! Restaurants are good and at least in Puerto Mogan you don't get pestered by the waiters to go into their restaurant like you do in the neighbouring resort of Puerto Rico which is a huge bonus - we felt that we could eat where we wanted and weren't pressurised to go into one particular restaurant. Mozart is a good one - very good pork fillet with gorgonzola. Bruschetta is the one for morning coffee - as it is an Italian restaurant you do get a proper cappuchino! the restaurant to the left of that (can't remember the name) does a very good fillet steak!. Eating out was expensive but the resort is an expensive one anyway and with the £ being so bad against the euro it felt more expensive.
don't bother to go to th eFriday market - the tour reps tell you that there is a lot of African goods there as the island is only some 60 miles from Africa - yes there are some stalls selling African goods, but the majority of the stalls are full of the usual tat you find in market stalls anywhere in the world - ie cheap clothing, watches, etc. Not worth the bother of walking round. I was disappointed as, because it is a weekly event, I thought it woudl be more colourful and with more local goods on sale - not at all.
All in all we were impressed by the apartments at Mogan Valle - they are relatively new and therefore the decoratons are clean and appliances in teh kitchen all work. It has certainly spoiled us for other apartment holidays.

Great clean and good value appartments, very friendly and helpful staff, great location very near to lovely beach and characteristic puerto mogan with it's fine restuarants, shame about the exchange rate, £100 for a meal for 4 with drinks, don't go to puerto mogan for a cheap holiday but go to get way from the crowds and the fantastic weather!

Just back from a very relaxing week at the Mogan Valle, first foreign holiday with a 7 month old and a great success. As other reviews report the apartments are lovely, well sized, furnished and decorated. We had a 2 bedroomed apartment which also had a second bathroom with spacious corner bath. The apartments form one side of the valley floor, slightly inland, so they overlook the opposite side of the valley, no sea views here. The positive side of this is that the harbour and marina area remains compact and very attractive, unlike other resort areas with tier upon tier of apartments overlooking the sea. Although the port area was apparently purpose built in the last 20 or 30 years it is beautifully done with bougainvillea everywhere and lots of little nooks and crannies and little lanes to wander around. The apartments themselves are about a 10 minute walk to the beach and port area down a wide and flat pedestrianised walkway.
The resort as a whole, and these apartments especially, seemed to attract mostly young families with babies and toddlers and older couples. Not the area for teeming nightlife. The staff were fantastic with our baby, in both the apartments but also in the resort more widely, really friendly and welcoming, certainly no awkwardness as yet more food ended up on the floor. It made it very easy to enjoy our holiday.
There is a very well equipped supermarket just 5 minutes walk away so self catering would be ok. We stayed bed and breakfast and the breakfast spread was comprehensive and fresh with lots of very yummy vanilla cream pastries! We didn't try eating there in the evenings so can't comment. Nor did we try the spa so no comments there either. There are lots of lovely restaurants in the resort area though with plenty of choice
I had wondered how the apartments could be so confusing to get around as other reviews have commented, but yes, they can be. Essentially the apartmentsare staggered up a hillside and there are many lifts but each only goes up 3 or maybe 4 storeys, due to the staggering. Plus as the apartments climb the hill they are set increasingly back so you end up having to walk back some metres to get another lift to continue on your way, if that makes any sense!
The bus station is just a few minute walk away and there are regular buses to Playa des Ingles and up to Las Palmas so it easy to go out exploring if you wanted to
We thoroughly enjoyed our week and would consider a return trip.

My new wife and I stayed at the Cordial Valle Apartments in Puerto Mogan for our honeymoon between 3rd and 17th January 2009.
We chose this particular place mainly on the basis of reports from other travellers on this website.
We checked in very quickly and found the reception and staff very helpful.
It can be a little confusing to find your way around at first but let's be honest, the apartments are built into the side of a mountain and we actually found the layout easy to navigate around after a couple of days (my wife is also 4 months pregnant and she didn't complain!!).
The room we were given on the 6th floor was excellent, very clean with a massive balcony, outdoor shower, sun loungers, table and 4 chairs. The view was also good, looking down towards the sea and Puerto Mogan itself.
I have read some reviews complaining about the mountain views but what would you expect from an island that is mainly volcanic rock!
We mainly sunbathed on the balcony but on the few occasions I used the pool, I was always able to obtain a lounger and the pool was clean and heated. Granted, the sun did not reach the pool until 11 am but again, you have to remember that we visited in January - I would imagine this will change in the summer months.
We also found the supermarkets well equipped and within easy access.
Puerto Mogan itself is a beautiful place if you are looking for a laid back holiday and every restaurant we visited served excellent food (I would recommend Cafe de Mogan).
We used the snack bar at the apartments for lunch and again, the food and staff were excellent. The gym and sauna/jacuzzi were also well looked after and I also used these during our stay.
Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Cordial Valle Apartments and are planning to go back again next year (we will also have a little one, complete with buggy!) and cannot wait to return.

My wifeand I stayed in the apartments for a week at the end of November. We hired a car from the airport and found them without any problems whatsoever. The hotel reception staff were helpful and polite and had no difficulties describing the facilities or giving us any advice when asked.
The apartment block is still under construction but the builders didn't spoil our stay at all - it was even amausing trying to decide what they were trying to achieve at times. Noise and dust were kept to a minimum.
The apartments are very spacious and well appointed and, because the whole place is brand new, none of the decore is scuffed or damaged and the towels, bedding etc. are all brand new as well. How long this will last will be the testament of the hotel and apartments. The one criticism I would have is the overall design of the place. It is rumoured that there are in excess of 20 lifts but none of them carry passengers for more than a couple of floors. That means that you wander a corridor to one lift, go up a couple of floors, wander in another direction to another lift etc etc etc. I felt I needed Sat Nav to find my room some days! Also, to get to the apartments from the reception there is a lift - what I never found were stairs in case of fire. All the other lifts in the complex have stairs at the side of them but not these. Not being a morbid person I don't even know why I thought of it but, since I did I thought I would share. I don't think there is any risk because there are ample opportunities to get to the gardens but they don't give any access to the streets.
The apartments are only a 10 miniute easy walk to Puerta Mogan that really is one of the most picturesque villages with ample opportunity to eat. The exchange rate when we were there made everything expensive but that's not their fault.
There is a good supermarket very close by for those who want to self cater.
One draw back to hiring a car and using this as a base to explore the island was the road between Puerta Mogan and Puerta Rico that is very narrow and on the cliff edge most of the way. There are a couple of bends that buses have difficulty getting round and the locals obviously know it a lot better than me given the speeds and overtaking manouvres they continually achieved.
I will be staying at Puerta Mogan again as it is the prettiest place we visited but I will also be watching Tripadvisor to see if they keep the standards up before booking the apartments again.

We stayed at the Mogan Valle Apartments between 29th Nov - 8th Dec. We have a 3 yr old so booked a two bedroom apartment and it was lovely, really well equipped and spacious and we even had our own ensuite bathroom with lovely corner bath, also the water in the bathroom was always lovely and hot for baths and showers. The balcony was huge with a table and chairs and two sunloungers and a shower. The apartment was spotless and cleaned most days and given new towels. We were self catering and there is a supermarket opposite the hotel were you can get anything you need. Pool at the hotel is lovley and warm this time of year.
It was a 15 minute walk to beach along a nice promenade, very safe for children. The beach is again very safe for children. There are plenty of restaurants to choose from to eat at, our favourite was 'Clipper' in the Port area. All the restaurants were very child friendly. We got a indian take away one night from the Indian opposite the hotel which was delicious. I dont think there is much nightlife in Mogan but as we have young children we wern't after that anyway. There was a junior disco in the bar every night at 8 for the children.
The only thing we were surprised at is how expensive eating out was, the hotel was cheap enough but at the restaurants on the sea front and harbour we were spending 60-80Euros a night (inc bottle wine, 3 main courses and starters), but I expect you could find cheaper places if you looked and we have not been to canaries for 3 years so maybe we were abit out of touch on this. Having said this we could not complain because every meal we had was fantastic and its not their fault the Euro = £ was so bad. I would really recommend this resort for foodies!
All in all I would 100% reccomend this hotel and resort to families with young children. We loved it and I am quite fussy. I would definately go back.

Stayed at the Cordial Mogan apartments from 1st to 8th November. After reading most of the excellent reviews I was worried that it might not live up to its expectations but I am happy to say I worried needlessly and the apartments far exceeded all expectations.
We arrived at silly 0' clock (4 in the morning) and luckily, because I had read on Trip Advisor that it is difficult to find the apartment, I made sure I had pen and paper with my passport and wrote the directions down. It did save a lot of hassle.
The restaurant wasn't finished and so we were upgraded to the hotel's restaurant for our meals. I have to say that every meal was excellent. There was always lots of choice and everything was served hot. If there was a criticism to make it was that it got very busy and sometimes there were long queues. When we stopped and thought about it though, it was because WE (the people from the apartments) were there and that was what was making it busy. On our last day my husband overheard a waiter telling a hotel guest that the hotel restaurant was 120 per cent full because the apartment restaurant was not open.
Our apartment was so spacious with two patio doors - one leading from the bedroom to the balcony and the other from the living room to the balcony. All the furniture and equipment was in pristine condition. The balcony easily accommodated a table and four chairs and the two sun loungers. I have never seen such huuuuge balconies in self catering apartments.
There should be three pools but the third one hasn't been finished yet. There were plenty of sun loungers available at all times we visited the pool. I don't know whether it wasn't busy because we were not in the children's school holidays, because the weather wasn't too hot or whether people preferred the privacy of their huuuuuge balconies.
We found the pianist and saxophone player in the hotel to be so relaxing. We used to listen to them before and after dinner.
Mogan itself is a delightful place to be. Your holiday can be as quiet or as busy as you want it to be. Sometimes we would just stroll along to the harbour and people watch. There is a bus stop directly across from the apartments and the No 1 bus takes you into Puerto Rico. The No 32 takes you into Ingles. Both places are well worth a visit.
As already mentioned on Trip Advisor, Orilla's bar is well worth a visit. We went there twice and both evenings were different. Antonio is such a happy person and his enthusiasm for music and life rubs off on you - a truly professional entertainer. You are guaranteed to come away singing!
A boat trip to Puerto Rico is well worth doing. For 10 euros we got a return trip, with a cup of Sangria and the captain even did an impromptu stop so we could see dolphins.
I am trying very hard to think of the negative points of this holiday and I give up. Unless I am really nit picking I cannot think of any.
I cannot blame the apartments for two overcast days or for the fact that my plane did not leave to go back to Gatwick until 8.30 pm!
To sum up - we had a truly wonderful holiday. I am not called fussy for nothing and if I say it was wonderful then it was!!!!! We were only home for a day and I was already on the 'phone to Thomsons to book for next year. This time I did it properly though and booked for two weeks instead of one.

We had a great week at these lovely apartments. The apartments were spacious, comfortable and well equipped- in fact one of the best we have ever stayed in. Almost like a boutique hotel. We were on 8th floor and although lifts can be confusing at first we had no problems. The reception staff are in the main fine but some were more helpful than others. Only negative really was being charged to use safe in room and the bar was very quiet apart from entertainment nights- which we managed to miss.
The resort is lovely, very pretty and well thought out. Great choice of restaurants- our favourite being La Tortuga on the harbour (free apetizer too which was always lovely)- best fillet steak we`ve had in years. Mind you all the restaurants we tried were great even the canarian one near band stand with large wooden round tables despite the very rude owner (not sure if it is a gimmick with him though).
Only down side was that apart from eating out there is very little night life- very quiet everywhere but could be because of time of year.
I would have no hesitation recommending this resort or these apartments.

Just returned from our hols and we had a really good time, lovely weather, nice location and great apartments. Puerto Mogan is a pretty place right by the marina. Good variety of places to eat about the same prices as in the U.K. Not much for kids to do apart from the beach and no clubs for young people which is all great for the more mature ( like us ) The apartment complex is very modern with lots of art work everywhere and only opened earlier thisyear. Our apartments was really for 4 so we had to pay an extra £144 for under occupancy. It had a large twin bedroom with plenty of storage and lovely decor. A large bathroom with bath with shower in. A large lounge kitchen diner plenty of kitchen eqipment. The lounge was nice comfotable furniture, the sofa was a sofa bed. Good T.V. with only BBC World T.V. in english. A maid came in every day to clean and do the beds. Everywhere in the complex was spotless. The restaurant is still not open but there is a nice bar serving snacks and drinks about the same prices as everywhere else. Ther is a very comfortable seeting area with comfy out door sofas ans chairs. There are 2 pool areas one with a kids pool and play area and snack bar. The only thing you have to get to grips with are the numerous lifts or stairs you have to use to get anywhere. But you soon sort it out after a few wrong turns. Ther is a supermarket opposite and one in the town 5 mins walk away. It is a 10 mins flat walk to the marina. We were dissappointed on our last day thet there was no courtesy room or late checkout as our pick up was not till 10.30 PM . We would definately return as long as we had better flight times.

We have just returned from the Cordial Mogan Valle apartments and had a great week (wish it had been longer). Arrived at about 3.30am and it took us nearly half an hour to find our apartment. We were only on the ground floor but were given the wrong room number! Our apartment was very spacious with a small patio area near to the pool which was surprisingly quiet. Mogan is a beautiful resort. About 10 minutes stroll to the beach and 15 minutes to the restaurants, all of which had great food. Never had a bad meal. It is worth taking a walk to the other side of the harbour to a restaurant called El Faro. There are lovely views both upstairs and down and we were the only couple there one evening which felt very special and romantic! This restaurant is busier during the day when day trippers arrive to go out on the Yellow Submarine which is a 45 minute trip which is worth going on just to see the shipwrecks. The cost is 28 euros per person. We also went on an excursion to the north side up in the mountains in a people carrier which is very comfortable. The views are spectacular but not for the faint hearted! Remember to bring a jacket though as it is freezing! We also had use of the spa, including jacuzzi, sauna, steam room (we understand this was because of the restaurant not yet being open). We also had a look around the Mogan Valle hotel nearby which has the most stunning receiption area! There was just one negative point that we would like to mention about the apartments - if you are leaving late (our coach was collecting us at 11.20pm) it may be worth prebooking a late check-out room. We tried to do so while we were there but had no luck as we were told that all rooms were full. This is fair enough except that they do not provide a courtesy room for you to have a shower after you have spent the day at the pool/beach! We have travelled to many apartments over the years and have never not had a room to shower in on the last day. After speaking to our rep she did manage to persude the hotelier to allow us to use the shower in the spa (closes at 7.00pm). This resort and apartments are a really lovely and relaxing place to spend a quiet week or two and if you want a little more nightlife then Puerto Rico is only a short ride away. It would be lovely to come back again in a few years time and really hope that it has not changed too much as it is just beautiful as it is!

We stayed at the Cordial Valle Apartments recently and were extremely pleased with the accommodation. We always opt, where possible, for quality accommodation and that is exactly what we got. The rooms were exceptionally well furnished, designed to be modern and contemporary. The balcony was huge and again well furnished with a patio table and 4 chairs, 2 sun loungers and an outside corner shower.
This apartment hotel is an absolute little gem. Anyone staying will not be disappointed.
Take a look at the photos, they speak for themselves.
The resort centre and harbour is a delightful little place, we found that it was best to avoid the harbour during the day as it becomes busy with day trippers from other resorts in Gran Canaria. Night time is a different story, it retains a charm and quietness that is so often difficult to find in tourist areas these days. Sitting by the harbour at one of the local restaurants was a great experience.
One of our great finds was a little back street Italian restaurant, "La Cucina", run by a very welcoming Italian couple, not much to look at but the food is excellent and very reasonably priced. Best pizzas we've tasted for years.

It’s a long time since I’ve stayed in an apartment complex and this is certainly the best one.
Transfer from airport was great – a small minibus which went straight to the complex with no other drop offs taking around 40 mins.
We were obviously the first occupants in our particular apartment as some of the kitchen facilities still had the seal/wrapper on them.
Lovely big rooms with high ceilings and a huge balcony area which had the sun from 10 am until 8 pm with two sun loungers, shower, table and four chairs.
We asked for an upper floor prior to arrival and this is what we got. Ground floor apartments open on to the pool area which is good for pool access but means you can’t leave your patio doors open during the day/night, and don’t have the privacy of a balcony.
The rooms were hot, despite leaving the fan on 24/7, but bearable.
TV has two English channels – you are charged a deposit on the remote, but don’t bother with it – you won’t want to sit in watching TV while you are there.
Kitchen had kettle, toaster, microwave, oven, hotplate, filter coffee maker, but only one plug socket. A small pack of washing up liquid and dishcloths was provided.
Bathroom was big, and clean with a great shower and massive sink/mirror area. Pool area (we used the one without the snack bar) was nice and quiet, but some visitors still insisted on putting towels out early in the morning, despite notices around the place asking guests not to do this.
Spa was good, though had a few teething troubles due to its newness (ie Jacuzzi was out of action) so they gave us a free session in the floatation cave to compensate.
Staff were pleasant and helpful enough. Though when trying to borrow an iron (a service one of the brochures in room said was available) we were told we would have to hire one for the week! So we didn’t bother.
The adjacent hotel is lovely, with a stunning reception and numerous pool areas and is well worth a visit.
Well stocked supermarket opposite, but the shopping centre opposite does not have many shops.
Puerto Mogan is lovely with a number of restaurants and bars, and very far removed from a typical tourist area. Some of the restaurants were closed for the summer – we were told they cater more for winter visitors.
It was sometimes a little too quiet for us though, so we hopped on the very cheap bus to Puerto Rico a couple of nights, a taxi back was around 15 euros.
I would love to go back. My only concerns would be whether the peaceful nature of the complex would be the same when operating at full capacity (I think at least a third of the apartments were not yet in use) and whether the pristine nature of the apartments would be maintained after 12 months of other travellers staying in them.

After our recent 1 week stay (14/7/08) at the Cordial Mogan Apartments, which are self catering, we can advise all potential visitors that they are open, but not fully and are simply fantastic! There are two wings (north and south) and we stayed in the northern wing of which the top 3 floors are still not open, also 1 pool was closed, but this didn't effect our stay.
Our ground floor apartment was brand new (we were the first occupants!) and only 5m from the triangular pool and very well appointed. Plenty of space around the pool, although this may change when complex is fully open?
Very quite location, Purto Mogan is so different to the other resorts, simply beautiful place to stay, but not recommended for party goers (good reason to stay we think!). Beach is small (a good 10-15min walk from apartments) and a little overcrowded on occassions, but the Cordial complex has first class facilities for sun worshipers so why leave!
Recommend visitors visit the local supermarket to stock up on essentials on arrival and sit back to enjoy the peaceful and beautiful location.
We were slighlty disapointed with the quality of local restaurants plus they were on the pricey side, food tends to be better away from the quayside, we found the little Italian (caravagio's) in the little venice side streets to be excellent. Fresh fish was excellent, but pricey.
Recommend hiring a car to explore the island, cheaper than any tour and you'll get great feel for the island as it is so small, but the roads are not for the faint-hearted in the mountains!!!
Overall a very beautiful place to stay and a cut above the rest, we would recommend it for anyone looking for a quality self-catering stay in quiet, peaceful and beautiful location.

We stayed at these newly opened apartments from 14th-28th July and loved them. Considering they have just opened and not all the apartments are ready yet, we were not once disturbed by any work going on. We were the only apartment open along our corridor.
We arrived late at night and were helped to our apartment. It took 3 lifts and 2 flights of stairs but later in the week the 4th lift opened.
We had a 2-bedroom apartment (until they are fully open, if you are worried about not getting a 2-bed apartment and have young children ring them up before you go. They are giving priorty for these apartments to those with young children). It was fantastic - very spacious.
The main bedroom has a HUGE bed (super king size) and en-suite bathroom with corner bath, shower over bath, hairdryer and 2 sinks. The second bedroom has 2 single beds pushed together. There is another bathroom with bath, shower over, hairdyer and sink.
The lounge area had TV (only 2 English channels available - CNN and BBC World News), sofa bed, 2 chairs and phone. The kitchen area was well equipped - fridge, 2 ceramic hobs, microwave, toaster, kettle and coffee machine. Only fault was there was only 1 socket so you can't make your tea and toast at the same time. We managed to cook in several times.
Our balcony was long and thin but we noticed that the balconies varied a lot in size. There were 2 sun loungers, a table and 4 chairs and a shower.
We didn't find the apartments too hot as has been mentioned in other reviews. We kept the doors open and fans on 24-7. From the position of our apartment we felt very safe and figured only spiderman could get in so took the risk of leaving the doors open while were we out to stop it getting so hot. I wouldn't recommend this for all apartments. The apartments by the pool open straight out onto the pool area and are not private at all. You'd have to shut your doors at night.
We saw several cockroaches in our apartment - very quickly evicted by hero of a husband! It's part and parcel of going to a hot country.
Our apartment was cleaned 5 times a week. Beds are changed twice a week and towels 3 times a week. They do request towels are not left on the floor apart from on towel changing days.
We had a problem with the safe but that was sorted out straight away - can't complain considering we were the first in the apartment and we arrived at about 11pm. The next day we couldn't open the lounge patio door and again someone came very quickly to sort it out.
Outside areas are kept very clean. We were amazed at how beautiful the plants were considering the place at just opened. There are currently 2 out of 3 pools open. We only used the one by the bar as it has a childrens' pool. It was great for kids. There is a playground but it only has a slide and that gets RED hot in the sun.
The supermarket across the road is very well equipped and is open 9am-9pm. There is also a Spar further towards the port which has a bigger meat selection and lovely freshly baked bread throughout the day.
It's about a 15 minute walk to the beach/harbour along a paved walkway. The beach was quiet during the week but it gets very busy at weekends when the locals descend. The harbour area is beautiful and has a good selection of restaurants.
We had a fantastic holiday and wouldn't hesitate to return to these apartments.

My family of 2 adults and 2 kids (05 & 13yrs) stayed in a 1 bedroom apartment for 2 weeks from the 05th july 2008. These are only open about 2 weeks prior to arrival. Probably one of the best standards of apartments we have ever stayed in. 9 floors high, so a series of steps or lifts to be negotiated at all times. Accom is very spacious with couch converting 2 single beds in the living room, quite a large bedroom, huge bathroom and fully fitted kitchen. Balcony very spacious with 2 sunbeds and table & 4 chairs.Towels and bedlinen changed Monday/Wed/Fri. 2 very nice pools with ample sunbeds. Washing machines and dryers avaialble at 4 euro per load. Nice restaurant on site with a bar but entertainment has begun yet.No proper kids club.Just 1 animator who plays volleyball twice a day.Spa is absolutely beautiful with treatments not too expensive.Hyperdino supermarket right across the road.Beach about 10mins walk as is also the port area for the restaurants.Eating out is limited in Porto Mogan unless you like Tapas.2 of our fav restaurants were Marina Bar (Irish) and Clipper (Italian). Bus to Puerto Rico was 5 euro oneway for the 4 of us.However Mogan is so beautiful and peaceful, you would not want to leave. The only problem I had with this holiday was the staff of Cordial Mogan Valle. They were so rude and unhelpful at all times . Final tip, you have to vacate apartments by midday on day of departure. You can request a late checkout for a fee of 25.00 euro ut this can only be confirmed on that morning.Overall an excellant accomodation that I would gladly stayin again.

I just got back from these apartments this morning and i had the most amazing holiday. The wait for the apartments to open was well worth it and all the stress and worry that went with it.
The apartments are very clean, very well equipped and thought out and if you get one by the pool that is an extra bonus.
The staff are tops... they couldn't help out any more than they did... they went out of their way for us and they were very friendly.
You also have to check out the health suite too.
I am already planning my next trip back there.

We booked this apartment about a month or so before departure and managed to get an excellent half-board rate. We did our research online first and discovered that the apartments were only just opened, but from reading a few forums realised that this was not an issue, and that all was well.
We had a very early morning flight, and one thing worth remembering is that Mogan is often the last of the airport drop-offs, so please remember this when considering your flight times, as you will be facing an airport transfer of over an hour. We arrived into the complex about 3am fairly tired and weary, to be greeted by a very friendly member of reception staff who dealt with us swiftly and efficiently. He did say that this was only his second night in the job, but this didnt show, and he even chased after us to announce that because we were on half-board rate that he had some food for us to take up to the room. It was a lovely salad and meat selection, and exactly what we needed after a long transfer. Top marks for this care alone!
One thing worth knowing is that after midnight the llighting around the complex goes to a minimum amount, so finding your way around the complex can be an issue in the early hours on arrival, being so unfamiliar with the surroundings. The complex is vast, and the numbering system a little intricate, but after 10mins or so we found our room.
This development is brand new, so the room was spotless and very well equipped. You have a kitchen area with microwave and grill, hob, fridge with freezer compartment and ample dishes and cutlery. The seating area has a fold out bed, and the bathroom has a bath and excellent water pressure in the shower. The balcony has modern loungers and seats with a table. You can also hire a parasol for the duration of your stay for a few Euros, but you can manage to stay in the shade with a careful placement of your lounger. One thing missing from the room was air conditioning, but this can be hired for around 40 Euros per week. For a modern development this is annoying, as most people find this a standard requirement.
There are three pools in the development, all of ample size, and with the current under-occupancy of the apartments there are plenty of sun loungers to go around. This naturally doesnt stop the idiots that still think they can reserve their own sunlounger by the towel method...
One bonus of our early visit was that the restaurant in the development was not ready yet, so we were sent for meals to the adjoining sister hotel the Mogan Playa, which has a far higher room rate. The food there was fabulous, with a wide and varied selection across the week. The half-board rate also allows you to swap dinner for lunch, which we chose to do one day in the Mogan Valle snack bar. The waitress informed us we could choose a starter, a main and a sweet for lunch which was a vast amount of food for us, so we ended up sharing a dish each. Again the quality of food was superb.
The development is brand new, and because of this there are a few minor teething issues-
1. staff really dont know the place too well- we were almost sent to the wrong town (good job I know the area and ignored the advice)
2. minor ongoing works- some of the rooms arent finished yet (I heard one horror story of a couple encountering a cat in their room on arrival that had clearly marked out its territory), so there is the odd workman during the day, but not making a lot of noise.
3. the entertainment was poor- its clearly still being tested, but the entertainment in the Mogan Valle was dreadful. Go to the Mogan Playa for entertainment there, as its a bit better. The Four Tops tribute was the best act (although amusingly there are only three of them in the band...)
The location of the development really is excellent, with a nice stroll to the harbour and a supermarket and shops located yards away. Take the ferry around to Peurto Rico (I recommend Mama Pinos for food in the Commercial Centre, but eat inside to avoid the Sunglasses salesmen) if you want a noisier scene.
On the whole, a great bargain at the moment, even better if you're on half-board rate.

Just arrived back from a week staying in a two bedroomed apartment. What a welcome surprise to find that it was the most spacious and well appointed apartment we've ever stayed in. The balcony was enormous with 4 sunloungers and table and chairs to seat 6.
Puerto Mogan is very pretty and We would definitely return for a week of winter sunshine( although, the weather we had was not typical of February) We found the most delightful Italian place to eat in one of the climbing side streets leading off to the right before you get down to the harbour. It's called La Cucina and is owned by a young Italian couple.
It's unpretentious, with fantastic food and so cheap. We ended up coming back several times as it was our favourite. Having said that we didn't have a bad meal anywhere during our week. All in all a good holiday, even our two teenagers enjoyed it, as a break from the English winter.

Best appartments I've stayed in for a long while. Reception staff friendly, efficient and eager to please. One bedroom appartment is very spacious and ideal for family of 4 - good sofa beds (2 x single beds) with large balcony. Spotless and cleaning most days of the week, towel change every second day etc provided a comfortable and relaxing stay. Highly recommended. Only problem is trying to find a good deal as much of the availability seems to be block-booked by the major tour operators.

When we arrived from Norway we had been assigned a room on the ground floor in spite of asking our travel agent for a room up higher.
We were very unhappy about that and the management in the hotel worked very hard and found an apartment for us on a higher level.
All through our stay we got excellent service and we can very warmly recommend this apartment hotel. Besides the good service the rooms are big, clean and very comfortable.
We shall return!

In January -10 the four of us stayed at Cordial Mogan Valle. The two couples had asked for two rooms next to each other, which we got.
All four of us liked the apartments a lot. The service at the hotel was also excellent. We had not many meals at the hotel, because we made our own breakfast and lunch. Most of the dinners we ate downtown.
We were not too impressed by many of the restaurants, though the Chinese one was cheap and served resonable and much food.
The best restaurants in our opinion this trip were Guantanamo in Tauro og Ayacama i Mogan. Previously we have had good food Mogan restaurant in Playa del Cura, the lovely restaurant in Tauro Valley and Oscar in Puerto Rico.
We also like to walk. Puerto Mogan gives you a lot of options for walking. The beach isn't big, but nice enough. Two of the pools at the hotel were heated.
We plan to go back for another fortnight in January. It's so nice with a short summer holiday in the winter when you can stay at a place like this.

Just had a nice week here. We were welcomed with a lovely glass of champagne.Had blue skys and 24/25c every day, even when cloudy in the distant mountains it always seemed like clear skies here!
Apartments were well equipped (even had a toaster and kettle) and spacious. Nice and modern interiors and huge balcony with table, chairs, sun loungers and even a shower. Only dissapointment were the 2 single beds pushed together-would have much preferred a double. We were on a top floor so had noone overlooking our balcony which was nice. We chose to mainly use the north pool even though we were about as far away from it as you could get (but still only a 5/6 min walk) as it was a bit quieter than the south one and slightly warmer than the infinity pool (although not a lot-brrrr!) The lift system was initially confusing but got used to it after a while-the best thing is to use your sense of direction rather than trying to read the signs next to the lifts.
We were a little suprised at the lack of info on arrival or in the rooms on the complexes facilities, we only found out there was a gym, spa, tennis court and even a restaurant by exploring and wandering around. We paid 15 euros each for a help yourself buffet in the restaurant one night which was very reasonable and included dessert. We got a drink in the bar one night before we went out, I paid about 6 euros for a champagne cocktail which was awful and made with flat champagne-this was our only bad experience here however! There were 3 computers in reception for internet access-2 euros for 15 mins. Also a luggage room, you had to leave the room by 12 noon on day of departure but could leave luggage after this in room next to reception (which included scales-very handy!)
It was about a 10/15 min walk to the harbour and sea front where there was an abundance of shops and restaurants. It was a pleasant enough walk, was well lit and always felt very safe even when late at night. We noticed there was a huge range of ages at the aprtments, they were young couples, older couples, families with teeenagers and many with babies, prams etc, also a range of nationalities. It obviously appeals to all-it felt very quiet also-no noise etc although I think there are well over 200 apartments on site! An enjoyable holiday in the pretty Puerto de Mogan.

Upon arrival we were greeted by friendly staff that checked us in efficiently and while all this was being done were offered either a glass of champagne or fresh orange juice upon arrival.
Our apartment was spacious, clean and well equipped, there was a large balcony with sun beds, table and chairs & shower.
Meals are buffet style, dinner was 2 sittings, early evening or later evening, you have a table allocated to you on your first night and it is yours for the duration of your stay. Chicken, steak & fish was cooked fresh to order every night. Breakfast was served until 10.30 each morning, and all food was being replenished up until close of service, again omelettes & eggs cooked fresh to order. Excellent choice of food, one of the best we have had.
Although this is quite a large complex it was well spaced out and never felt over crowded. Lots of places to sit & a choice of 3 pools. Plenty of activities to occupy if that’s you thing, we tried archery one afternoon. There is a wellness centre on the complex, I treated myself to a full body massage, I can highly recommend this. Evening entertainment was low key, thankfully no disco blaring out until 3am.
There is shopping centre and supermarket opposite so you can get the essentials, bottled water etc. Also an Indian restaurant and some bars.
We were about a 20 minute walk away from the very pretty harbour and town. We ate in the town twice (at the same place as the food was excellent). There are plenty of place to stop and have a drink. There was a large market on Friday (even Christmas Day)! Sold the usual thing, belts, handbags, sunglasses etc.
Mogan is nice and quiet, with as much or as little to do as you want. If you are younger possibly this resort might not have enough going on. If you are looking to have a relaxing quite break then this is the place to go.

We have been to Gran Canaria several times and always stayed in Puerto Rico. However, we only booked this holiday a couple of days before leaving and the accommodation in PR was not suitable so thought we would try Puerto Mogan. What a great decision! The apartments lived up to our expectation from reading reviews etc. The staff were very friendly and helpful - the first time we have ever been met on arrival by a glass of Cava (2 actually). The rooms are the best we have ever stayed in in GC - spacious with large balconies etc. etc. We were self catering so can not comment on the food on offer. Only one note of caution - the rooms on the ground floor are generally right next to 2 of the pools. They are ok if you have children and want to keep an eye on them in the pool area but they are surrounded by large plants and palm trees so there are virtually no views or terrace space so may not suit all. Puerto Mogan is very very nice but if you eat down at the harbour area then be prepared to pay a bit more as it is a bit expensive compared to Puerto Rico. However, the restaurants are much nicer and food was excellent. All in all we had a very nice relaxing time and will certainly now never go back to Puerto Rico to stay.

From arrival to departure all of the staff and atmosphere was very friendly and relaxed. Our room was spacious, clean and very comfortable, including regular towel change and cleaning. Our children (9 and 11) loved the pool area and the many activities on offer during the course of the day i.e. water polo, craft, water aerobics and many other games/activites for all ages. We were half board and found the buffet restaurant extremely good. A great selection of good food (even for our very fussy son) and the service was excellent. The snack bar which we used twice at lunchtime was very good - loved the outside seating area. A large supermarket opposite the hotel and open all day was very convenient. Porto Mogan was a leisurely 10 minute walk with lots of great restaurants and a beach. A great family hotel /holiday - we wish we were there now! Thank you.

Stayed there for under two weeks at the start of November with wife and 2 year old.No problems at all with accomodation, food or staff.Arrived, checked in and in room by 10 mins.Only issues was the lack of air conditioning and that you had to rent air conditioning,an iron and other little bits.Too be expected I suppose but slightly annoying. One major talking point with everybody there was how slippy the slippy the pool area was.I saw a pregant woman nearly fall at one stage due to this problem..They really need to sort that out.Would go back again but may look around also as not yet convinced 100% that it made me want to rebook. Not sure what it was but something niggling away at me to shop around.

Just returned from Puerto mogan. Apartments excellent we had 13 year old son with us. 3 great pools, fantastic balconys with 2 loungers, table & chairs and outside shower for cooling down.
Minor gripe: although fans in bedroom and living room helped keep cool, it would cst another £40 a week for air con unit. Would suggest they install as standard and rating would be perfect.

Very helpful, nice and friendly staff. When we arrived, we were offered a glass of champagne! The hotel is 15 min walk away from the beach, which is realtively small, but very nice! Rooms are spacious and cleaned every day. the terrace was the biggest surprise here as we didn't expect to have shower too. However, they had only fans and no aircon, so it got pretty hot. I cannot imagine to be there in August or July. There are three swimming pools in the hotel, plus the beach nearby, so that you could actually really swim during the day.
Food was OK, but I wish there was more variety. Unfortunately, I even think the fruits or vegetables weren't always fresh.

Me and my partner travelled to Cordial Mogan Valle Apartments on the 5th Sept 09. The 1st look at the hotel while half asleep, as we arrived around 3am, looked lush, most people on here complained about finding it hard to find their room. With the good route given by the receptionist we found our room stright away. The room was really nice, lots of space. Only problem we had was the ants in the bathroom, that liked to get in the shower with you. There would be 3 things we would change about the room, one would be to have Air con as the fans did work but they were noisy when they were working, 2nd would be to have a oven as its self catering, we found over the shop there was alot of oven stuff and not alot of microwave meals. 3rd would be the TV there wasnt enough english channels. I know you go on holiday to get out in the sunshine etc but sometimes its nice to watch a little bit of TV which you can understand apart from the news. Back to the good points of the room. The Balcony was to die for, so big and outside shower, very nice and the views of the mountains and the pool were nice to look at in the morning. The Pool we had a view of was the quietiest out of the 3 but it was nice not to have the kids playing about . But if you wanted to take kids you could as there was a family pool on the otherside of the apartments. We had our room cleaned nearly every day apart from the days off of the cleaners, they were very nice and polite and there cleaning was at a high standard. Location was not that good to where all the pubs, resturants, Beach and Harbour., it takes a good 15 to 20 minutes walk at a slow pace. But once you are down there its nice and the food its nice too. But take plently of money with you as its not all that cheap, the time we went it was a £1 to the euro. I would recommend their local drink Honey Rum (Ron Meil) as its really really nice if you like your drink. We also went on the Supercat Cruise around the other islands in Gran Canaria, which was nice, that was all excluisve for drinks and food, so if you want to get a tan i would recommend a boat trip. Well we have been home around 3 weeks and we would love to go back again, maybe next time will be when we are Wed. You will certainly enjoy this place no matter what age you are!

This was my second visit to this complex. I had visited in May with my partner, young children and our friends. I loved this complex from the minute I arrived. This is the reason I returned 8 weeks later with my Mother and my 2 young children.
I found the welcome we recieved most welcoming and on my return visit it was like seeing old friends again. Also all the requests I had made to reception prior to my arrival had been fulfilled so that was also another bonus. On both occasions I booked our stay direct with the company and they booked my transfer for me. No problem either time. I have to thank Emeline, Marcello and Marina in particular but ALL the staff here from housekeeping up are so friendly and helpfull. Also Isabel in the buffet, so helpful always.
About the complex: As other reviews have mentioned there are three different pools. The main pool in the south is where the childrens pool is. It is also where you will find the Laundry room. (2 washing rooms and 2 tumble dryerd) they cost €3 and €4 so won't break the bank. This is also the area where the animation takes place. It starts at 11am for the kids and alternates between kids activities and adults during the day. There is no kids club room but activities take place outside the snack bar. There are ample sun loungers and umbrellas in the well maintained gardens and is a great place for all the family to relax and enjoy the warm sunshine. The snack bar seems to have funny opening hours so its best to find out from reception what the hours are. The pools are a good size and are not too deep. Cant remember exact depth. The only down side to the pool area is the tiles om the floor. THEY ARE VERY SLIPPERY so be warned! I did notice however that the pool in the 3rd floor has had its floor covered in some type of non slip surface. (Wasn't done in May) I presume all areas will eventually have this done as it need it.
The Apartments: These are very nice apartments. I found them well equipped and you could manage to cook a few meals in them in you wanted as long as they were 2 pot dinners. The apartments are quite modern and I liked the decor. Funky, bright and airy. The sofa converts to two pull out beds for the children in the one bedroom apartment. In the Two bed it has the same sofa beds and also the extra kingsize bedroom and extra bathroom. Well worth the extra money for all the extra space. The rooms were cleaned 5 times a week. I do feel though that they could be cleaned a little better as the floors only ever got a rub with a wet cloth. I think this is down to the amount of room the women had to clean in a short space of time as there seem to be very few house keeping ladies for the amount of rooms to be kept. I found on both occasions the girls to be very polite and helpfull and honest which is great.
Food: Well what can I say about the food. Breakfast was what you would expect. A good enough selection of hot and cold food on offer. All the usual bacon, eggs etc. also fresh omeletts of your choice a selection of cold meats and cheeses and fresh fruit and bread. Nothing that can really go wrong. Dinner was another matter. It wasn't bad but it wasn't great either. Most of the time you didn't know what you were eating and a simple sigh in front of each dish would of helped. There wasn't a great choice of food on offer and it did tend to get a bit boaring after 2 weeks. Don't get me wrong it was ideal when traveling with young children but I do think this is the one of two areas that lets this comlpex down. The other being the bar. There is no atmosphere here and the drinks are very expensive. €6 for a gin and tonic or vodka and 7up when a 1 ltr bottle is just €10 in the hyperdino.
Puerto de Mogan itself is beautiful too. The main resort is just a shout walk along the prominade to the marina and shopping area. It is very quiet and reserved and if you are looking for nightlife and a full on holiday its NOT the place for you. However if you are looking for a little bit of paradise to relax then its just the place for you. Most of the shops close about 6pm and from then on its all very local which I liked about the resort. The Men sitting in the square playing cards and dominos and the children playing. Very relaxed and chilled for a nice evening stroll. Also a great selection of restraunts to suit all budgets.
All in all I think this complex and resort are the jewel in the crown of Gran Canaria. I would return again and hope to do so next summer. I would happily recommend it to friends and family for a visit. I look forward to many more happy memories and family holidays at the Cordial Mogan Valle.

Went to Mogan apartments for a week with a friend. Like the other reviews the rooms are big - both the living area and sleeping areas are really big and spacious. Good wardrobe space and loved the big balcony with two sun loungers and a dining table. I would agree about the fans - the rooms got hot - hotter than outside and it was 40 outside. You would need air con if you had small children it was sweaty sleeping.
Good facilities - the gym is fine and the spa is nice - just a shame they are closed on Mondays and Thursdays. For €10 you can get unlimited use of the gym which i was happy with.
LIke the aqua gym classes and other things on offer - great girl taking them with loads of enthusiam. Had the breakfast buffet - good value for €7.50. Also ate in teh snack bar at lunch had toasted sandwiches and great salads and very friendly staff.
Hiper dino across the road was brilliant - had e'thing really good and reasonably priced. Nice walk into town - around 10 mins down a pedestrian boulevard. If you are a keen runner we ran up the hill opposite the apartments - you can see a path winding its way up great run to get the heart rate up. make sure you go at night after 7 when there is no sun on the path.
Puerto Mogan is a very quite wee village - it is gorgeous and relaxed. To be fair if you don't want to have loads of people around and want a quiet relaxing week this is a perfect place to go.

Stayed at these apartments for 1 week in July - were really impressed with the quality of the accommodation, and the size of the apartment, which had everything you needed for a short self-catering stay. We especially liked the large, private balcony which had table, chairs and 2 sun loungers (and an outdoor shower!) so you could relax here instead of by the pool if you wanted some peace and quiet. The pools were large, and never seemd to get overly busy (one was closed when we were there though, which was disappointing) The only thing lacking (as mentioned by other reviewers) was air conditioning!! There are fans in both the bedroom and living area, but to be honest, they did nothing more than move the hot air around the room. We had to sleep with our balcony doors open over-night, even then it was really stuffy as no real breeze to speak of.... And - as everyone else has stated - the layout of the hotel complex is extremely confusing, I have no idea who designed it but they were clearly on another planet at the time!! In saying that, we managed to find our apartment no problem, but it was definitely a mission to get there from reception!
The location of the apartments is good, just a short, pleasent walk (about 10 mins) to the main beach area, where most of the bars and restaurants were located. Supermarket over the road from the hotel is large and reasonably priced, there are also a couple of places to eat in the shopping complex next to it (the Indian restaurant was good) Mogan is not the kind of place you'd want to go to if you are looking for varied, wild nightlife though, as most places seemed to shut down around 10.30pm! The resort seemed to attract mainly Spanish and German holidaymakers, we didn't encounter any other British people while we were there at all (poss as English school hols had not yet started though) I quite liked this though, felt like I was really on holiday and not just Blackpool in the sun!!!
Overall, great resort and accommodation for a relaxing, chilled out holiday - next time I think I'll wait til the weather is cooler though (or BYO air con!!)

We stayed in the apts B&B for one week in July. The weather was excellent (too hot) all week. We visited Mogan for a family wedding that was happening in the adjoining hotel so we got a good view of the standards in both places. We travelled with a 4 year old and a 4 month old baby. Upon arrival at the apts at 22.30 we were given a room on the 7th floor but because I had read the previous reviews on TA we immediately asked for a groundfloor apt. We were promised one for the morning after. We got completely lost looking for the apt and while still fully dressed for Irish weather one wrong turn cost us 30 mins looking for the apt. Eventually I went off on my own and found the right floor by sheer dumb look.
The apts were grand a decent size room and a lovely balcony and the kitchen/living room was fine.
We moved down poolside on the 2nd day and that was the end of our lift escapades thank god as my brother-in-law got suck in one for 15 mins.
Breakfast was excellent they had everything on offer and the staff were all friendly as were the reception staff.
The worst point of the apts was no air conditioning which u can hire (mobile)for €60 but it is pointless on a ground floor as u cant leave it on when going out or asleep.(The hotel rooms were especially cool as we stayed there one night.
The pools were all really nice and never overly busy and my 4 year old was able to go in and out easy enough.
The supermarket across the road had everything u could need and was reasonably priced on everything. There arent a lot of shops around the resort compared to other places I have been but it was a really pleasant walk up and down the promenade and there was nobody hassling u into shops/bars which was a nice change.
We only ate in the apts restaurant for breakfast and ate in the hotel for dinner a few times for the buffet which i really enjoyed and there was always something there to eat for the kids so I guess the buffet in the apts would have been similar but looking back I reckon half board would have been a great option for us with kids.
Visited puerto Rico one day via boat trip (30 mins) and not much there but the aqua park was good fun.
Mogan is definitely worth a visit and if the apts were to get air conditioning I would go back in a flash. Maybe at an earlier time of the year when its not so hot (40 degrees celsius a lot of days)

Queremos volver. Hasta pronto.

An Expedia Traveler ,

Stayed in a self catering apartment for a week in early february and was very positively surprised. It was a package holiday and we were genuinely positively surprised. As others have said, the internet photos do not do it justice. Our apartment was spacious, nicely decorated and very clean. The cleaners came in almost every day and did a very good and thorough job. The big bonus was the huge balcony with sun beds and table and chairs. The pools were also nice and not too busy when we were there. It is used by quite a few charter companies, but at least there is a range of nationalities. What I found a bit annoying was that the facilities like restaurants, snack bar, spa and the gym had very limited opening hours. The spa was quite nice and not too expensive.
The location is ok, about 10 minutes walk to the beach/marina. Just outside the hotel there is a 'shopping centre'. It has a decent supermarket, but that is about it. I suspect it was built in booming times, but then got hit by the financial crisis as there were very few shops in there and mostly just the tourist souvernir stuff.
We really enjoyed Puerto de Mogan. It was charming with a good selection of restaurants, especially if your into fresh fish and sea food. However, it probably caters mostly for the slightly older traveller and families as there is now nightlife to speak of and shopping is limited.

Visited Mogan years ago and always said it would be great to stay here one day and we did at the Valle apartments.
First impressions were great and the internet photo's in my opinion do not do it any justice, roomy apartments, massive balcony's and really just what you would look for. Pools were good but with a 2+ year old after a while a little cold even in 28 degrees heat.
Did all our eating at the harbour/beach area and not in the complex. Before I start on eating I will not give the place justice as myself and my wife are not big seafood fans so take what I have to say with a pinch of salt but we did experience the good and the very bad, lots of nice seafood restaurants though so keep an open mind here.
I am afraid to say a lot of the places we ate were expecting our money rather than working for it and some of the food was very average and slipping towards the normal tourist routine, a dam shame really. A few places stood out and there looked to be some amazing small seafood places so don't despair. A meal with bottle of wine (another story to follow on that) 50 euro's. A place called La Bruschetta on the beach front for us was the best place we ate, italian orientated but do seafood etc, again around 50-60 euro's for two and a half with wine, water etc. Service was brilliant, made to feel welcome, no cheesy gimmicks and they made an effort for your hard earned holiday money which made you feel good and we always tipped well. Glass of bubbly on arrival (obviously not the real thing but nice touch) excellent service and great pasta dishes. Also what sold it for us was my wife has a wheat allergy but they made gluten free pasta and pizza dishes. If you want pizza go during the day and let then know you want to eat there that evening as they need to make up fresh gluten free pizza bases, no probs with the pasta though. There normal pasta is all freshly made. We ate here a few times and every time was the same standard.
As you walk down to the beach from the apartments there is a small eatery/cafe with red plastic chairs outside it, for days we walked past this place. Looks very local no tourists there and looked very basic, they have a rottiserie outside cooking chickens. Well one day we said sod it and had lunch there, just half a roast chicken each, some bread and fried potatoes, 5 euros each and to say it was to die for was an understatement, clearly a place the local workmen go for there lunch etc, the owner was so pleased to have us. It's a snack lunch place so if you want fancy service don't go, like us many of you will walk past but try it once it was really tasty.
We seen one chinese and decided to go on our second last night, wasn't a good move, lets just we weren't to hot the next day!!!
Again as you walk down to the beach, just before the red plastic chair place (bad for names sorry) near the bus stance is a little restaurant again very busy at the weekend with locals but during the week virtually deserted. Prices far cheaper than the beach/harbour area, as we were there for two weeks we thought we would try it, food was brilliant and probably half the price elsewhere. I like my nice wines but eating with a 2+ year old tend to just stick to a house wine as meals tend to be quicker than normal so wouldn't get the full enjoyment of a decent vino. Ordered a house red in spanish very cleary as i had been doing for the last week or so, waiter turns up with a bottle, I taste it, very nice, drink wine finish meal, bill arrives wine 25 euros!!!!!!!!!!! Obviously thought tourist lets sell them a more expensive bottle. Paid bill and left, we said before bill we would have gone back here a couple of time but never again, so in the long run there loss, why do people think all tourists are idiots. Yeh I could have complained etc but the broken English would have started and I couldn't be [--].
Overall the place is excellent and very beautiful, well worth a visit. We went on a boat to Peurto Rico, just do it to see how lucky you are. My only worry is Mogan ends up the same but surely not, lets hope the locals have the power to say that's enough as this place could be so easily ruined.
On a sour note, we had a 4:30 am flight to Glasgow and we had to check out at midday the day before!!!! Obviously my concern was for my daughter as our pick up wasn't until 1am. Few days before asked if we could have late check out, yeh should't be a problem as place wasn't even half full/empty however you like it. Day before went down err we can't do that, it was so obvious the place was empty. I said I would pay the 25 euros late check out but she said they couldn't do anything. Phoned Thomas Cook who said they would phone the hotel but did as much use as an ashtray on a motorbike. I went back and said could I have another room for a night, confused look at me and then they asked if I wanted another room, I said yes and they said that would be 57 euros, ok I said, they then ironically said i could just stay in the room I had as the cleaners wouldn't be in until the Monday if i kept that room, I kept my cool but did ask what logic they were using here. Thomas cook reps were useless, I havn't dropped the matter but my daugther's well being is worth far more than 57 euro's so paid and that was that, just like the restaurant though I won't be back, shame really as was a real low point on such a nice holiday.
Beach very nice and clean
Brilliant harbour/beach area
Sorry for long winded review, just say how it is

Just back from 2 weeks self catering at Cordial Mogan Valle & we had a fantastic time. Puerto Mogan was beautiful with loads of bars & restaurants, although everything had shut down by 10:30pm!! The apartment was great, cooking facilities for self catering were adequate (missed having an oven)! all rooms were tidy & clean, the balcony was huge with a lovely view onto one of the pools. Buses were great & regular so no need to hire a car...my partner did not fancy the sheer drop cliff drives!!!! I would recommend these apartments to couples & families as we had no problems with overall cleanliness or service which we recieved, (although the gym facilities were pricey(6euros per session)), but just down from the shopping complex there is a private gym which charged 10euros per week (gym equipment & classes) which my partner took full advantage of.

A TripAdvisor Member,
As many a travellers have pointed out. Confusing lift system. If you find a route through the hotel that gets you from where you are to where you want to go, stick to it. We tried an alternative route from the pool to our room one afternoon and ended up taking 8 lifts all in all.
- However, it's a nice enough place with three good size pools plus a kids one. Bedrooms were bigger than anticipated with a fairly small lounge and a large balcony. One bath for each bedroom which was nice. We were quite high up in the 900s rooms and although a bit more cumbersome to get to, I suspect it was worth it though as the sun lasted a bit longer in the afternoon.
- Breakfast was a joy with loads of stuff to choose from & freshly made omelette & fried eggs in front of you. Lots of fresh fruit and all your other usual brekkie stuff like youghurt and cereal & stuff. Cava at your leisure is also a nice touch.
- Evening buffet at 20 Euros/head. House wine around 15 euros/bottle. Would not recommend. For that price you're way better off down the harbour at El Capuchino '501' or Orillas del Mar. A couple of people in our party did however go back later in the week and claimed it was better so maybe it's a bit hit and miss.
- Food and drink are quite expensive but that's not exclusive to this hotel. It's the Euro's strenght against other currencies that makes it so. You can still get away quite cheaply in the supermarket if you want to.
All in all - we're very happy with our stay at the Cordial Mogan Valle but are a bit concerned for the future. It was only opened up in April 2008 as far as I know but rendering are already starting to fall off the walls in places, corners are getting a bit grubby around the bath tubs etc. So of course, one wonders how it will look in a few years time if they don't keep up maintenance. But anyway, lets hope they've got it covered.

We arrived at the Mogan Valle after a drive which reminded us of the Amalfi coast. Once in Puerto De Mogan we were it was a beautiful little town with a marina to match. The Valle is quite a walk up the valley along a nice promenade which helped to keep the calories at bay as tnere are numerous restaurants along and around the marina. Favourite place was La Cicala, an Italian restaurant with a very varied menu.
The Mogan Valle has well appointed apartments but as said before, rooms can be difficult to find first time around. The reception staff were very pleasant and helpful and gave us a glass of 'champagne' on arrival. Our room looked on to the roof of the next floor down but the upside is that it was quite and peaceful with very little street noise. The odd excitable tot was the most we heard. All in all, a lovely spot in Grand Canaria but if you want excitement, stay in Puerto Rico or Playa Del Ingles

To supplement many other Jan-Feb 2009 reviews that you can read here.
- Yes the building layout and apartment numbering is over-complicated, particularly given that some of the signs aren't quite right and the buttons in the lifts do not match the floor levels. ( Buttons go 0-1-2-3...., whichever few floors the lift serves) There are 9 floor levels where the site is widest at the southern end, fewer towards the northern end of the development. However it did not take us long to work out their misguided logic. You may have to go up, along and go down again to get to some locations.
- The icons on the signs provide a good guessing game.....
- Good luck hunting the coin-op laundries, unless they have put signs on the doors by the time you go. The machines are decent but cost EUR 3-4 a go.
- Mogan is a steep sided valley, the apartments are on the east side and face west. Although the main road climbs the valley side immediately behind, our 8th floor apartment had no road noise from behind us.
- In Feb 09, the arrival of sunshine on our large balcony was around 11.30am and it disappeared over the valley side at around 6.30-7pm. The arrangement of apartments results in varied balcony sunshine duration; the one below us was in full shade for at least an hour more in the morning, pot luck! A very small number will be severely compromised, but if you are unlucky there were always empty sunbeds around pools and on sun terraces, despite the accomodation being full for Feb half term.
- Yes there are only 2 english tv channels but our teenager soon hooked up his xbox from his luggage. By comparison there are 6 german channels and evidently more germans in the resort. If you want the delights of Britons running amok go elsewhere, eg Puerto Rico, because you will be bored.
- We were no timeshare or bar touts on the pavements.
- Yes many of the restaurants provide similar menus but you will not care too much if your idea of decent fish is not battered. 75-90 EUR for three of us with 1 bottle. You can eat cheaper, particularly in places without a harbour view.
- We eat out every night on hols, but we could have coped with the pans they provide, 2 rings and a microwave. Not enough socket outlets but you'll live.
- Builders are still dotted around in small numbers fixing minor things, as the place opened in mid 2008. Our impression is that some of the fixtures and fittings in the apartments will quickly tire/wear but all is generally well for now.
- Investigate both main supermarkets, Dino and Spar, each is better at different things.
- Mogan is clinging on to an elusive air but may struggle as the resort expands.
- In future years we suggest you google earth the location just to check they haven't started building on the valley floor nearby. Can't see this happening for years yet, but it would affect your holiday.
- Friday market is mostly tat but brings the madding hordes to Mogan to the delight of the shop keepers.
- Save up and try the restaurant in the 5 star Cordial Playa hotel next door if you like the menu.
- All in all, for both Codial Valle and Mogan in general, with the pound:euro at virtually 1:1, 'not cheap but worth it'.

We stayed in a two bedroom apartment during February half term (myself, husband and children of 14 and 12). Reception staff were friendly and we were offered champagne or orange juice on arrival. The layout of the complex is unnecessarily complicated and it takes a while to find your way around. The apartments are already showing signs of wear and tear and poor quality workmanship. One of the bathrooms had cracks around the tiles and an unpleasant damp smell. The patio door handle in the living room was broken and we felt the cleaning was not very thorough.
However the apartment was a good size, the balcony was very large and we could see the sea. We spent most days by the rooftop infinity pool ( there are three pools) as it was never crowded, a bit cold for swimming though - my teenagers would go to the main pool to swim. The spa was good, my husband had 2 massages and was very pleased with them. The gym is small and crowded. There is one of each machine and they are not the best quality, OK for a basic workout. We ate at the snack bar a couple of times and the food was OK (my daughter loved the hotdogs!). There are pool and table tennis tables by the snack bar. There is entertainment in the bar each evening starting with a mini disco at 8pm. This was followed by a quiz, bingo or show at 9.30pm, we went to the shows and particulary enjoyed the acrobats.
Puerto de Mogan is pretty with nice shops and plenty of restaurants. However the menus tend to be very similar and with two vegetarians in our family we did struggle to find menus that would please everyone. We had a very nice meal at the Indian restaurant opposite the apartments and La Cicane, Italian restaurant by the beach.
We hired a car for the whole week and were glad of this. There is nothing really to do in Mogan if it is cloudy. We did enjoy looking for crabs on the jetty by the beach and watching the fish in the harbour though.
Overall we had a good holiday. We felt the good things about the apartments outweighed the bad and we would consider returning.

Stayed in the apartments from the 2nd till 9th Feb, had a 2 bedroom aprtment which was lovely. I have a 5 month old and a 2 year old and it was the perfect holiday for them. Bit of a trek to our room as the complex is so big, but not too much of a problem. Stayed half board and the breakfast and dinner was the best self serve bufffet I have ever had. Hot grill for you to choose some freshly cooked food also. I took advantage of the Flotation Cave in the Spa and also the Jacuzzi which was lovely. Kids were well looked after, activities for about 1/2 hour each morning and evening. Kids disco fun too. Would say that older than 10 kids probably would get bored. Porto Mogan small but beautiful, with lovely beach and harbour.
Fab supermarket over the road from apartments too.
Only BIG BIG downside was the florring around the pool areas, it was lethal!!! when wet. Lots of kiddies fell and adults too. Be very very careful, pool shoes a must!!

We were fortunate that some friends of ours had visited Cordial Valle in November so we knew what to expect - although it wasn't so expensive then!! We asked for a top floor when we booked but got a 2nd floor room - which was probably fortuitous because of the number of lifts involved. Because of the layout we didn't actually have anyone directly above us so noise wasn't too much of a problem. Previous reviews have described the accommodation so I won't go into that again - pretty accurate I would say, although our bedding and towels were changed regularly. The centre of Mogan is a delight and I never tired of breakfasting overlooking the harbour at Denneys Irish bar (around 14 euros for two cooked breakfast s and fresh orange juice - you can watch the machine squeezing them!) We regularly had a cool beer at one of the cafes overlooking the beach - the ones at the end of the prom are cheaper than those in the centre. ~Dining out was fine with many restaurants to choose from although several served similar dishes. We enjoyed the Italian, La Cicana, but the one next door La Bruchetta turned out to be better. Good fillet steak at Mozarts, but don't be too late going as we went at 8.15 and felt we were being rushed because they wanted to close, but that may be because it was January. Pricewise most were similar but with the poor performance of sterling we spent around £50 a night for a shared starter, two pasta dishes or steaks and a bottle of wine! We were not impressed by the Indian across the road from the complex - the sauces were lovely but the chicken seemed to have been running around for a long time!I Wasn't up for cooking anyway, but the limited resources in the apartment kitchen would have made it difficult - two rings on a ceramic hob and a microwave! I was surprised to see a filter coffee maker though - take your own filters - very expensive in the supermarket, and you may want a cup of decent coffee - we found the restaurant coffee disappointing. We thoroughly enjoyed our time in Mogan because we only wanted to chill out and the bit we saw of Gran Canaria itself (on our trip round various resorts waiting to be dropped off when we arrived - we were last!) made us realise we had chosen the most idyllic place on the island so there seemed no point in going elsewhere. If you want more culture, entertainment etc. it may not be for you but perfect for a relaxing break.

this is about the apartments
they are a maze it is necessary to spend some time working out where the lift shafts are and how to find the lifts themselves.the information boards on the lifts and floors are not understood by the staff themselves.
the apartments themselves are adequate.they do NOT have aircon they are not too hot in winter.cooking facilites are fine for light cooking
Staff are excelent particularily the staff around the pool there is entertainment at night of a reasonable nature particularly for children.
The pools are lovely but they are for a swim they are not for serious swimmers.
all in all the apartments are quiet, they are for familys and friends they are not for the rough and tough

Cordial Mogan Valle Apartments Puerto de Mogan Gran Canaria
Mention has been made on the difficulty of locating your apartment. This huge block of self catering apartments have been constructed on a series of terraces each terrace set back from the one below.
Every terrace has a number of lifts surrounded by steps which go up and down one level. Some lifts, access behind their square lift shafts, go up and down two levels.
Access to higher levels are via the three small lifts opposite reception generally button 2 takes you to the left of the apartment block and button 3 to the right. The lifts deposit you onto an outside area and it is important that you ask reception where to go. Numbering of the apartments is confusing and you should be given a map from reception which shows you the layout. Ask them to clearly mark your apartment and the route you should take.
Check in was somewhat tedious. A room safe key cost us14 Euro for the week. The T.V. controller is free as long as you return it upon departure. There are only two English speaking channels BBC World News and CNN which we considered inadequate.
The apartment was spacious with a large private patio. Access to the apartments is via long echoing corridors, noise can be a problem. Our apartment looked out over a large area of rubble strewn ground to the barren valley side opposite. The apartment was obviously new with signs of hasty completion - surface cement staining on floor tiles, poor fitting kitchen cupboards etc. However these did not distract unduly. We were informed that towels & bed linen would be changed, our bed linen never was and our towels once.
Cooking facilities are limited to simple meals. Provisions are best obtained by walking down the main pathway to the town turning right to the bus station and into the SPAR opposite. Buy smaller items in the SPAR and heavier / extra goods on the way back at DINO. Both stores are good but don't expect too much.
The dining room is small in comparison with the number of apartments. If on half board you will be given a late or early sitting in the evening. The dining room is self service and functional. Breakfasts are good but we would not recommend eating here at other times.
Puerto de Mogan is full of restaurants the more expensive face the harbour and sea shore. With the current value of the £ we found the prices high. Similar meals can be obtained at lower cost in Puerto Rico a short bus ride away. Although food prices are advertised drink prices are generally not so watch for the 'rip off's' a glass of wine can set you back 8 Euro's more than a bottle of wine in a store.
There is an area in Puerto de Mogan called little Venice, rather nice but the originators of this description should be applauded for poetic licence.
There is no information centre so reliance is on your hotel, word of mouth or holiday rep. This can be vague, confusing or simply wrong.
Puerto de Mogan is a quiet gentle sort of place at night, it can get busy during the day. We found our weeks stay relaxing. There is little or no nightlife except occasionally in your hotel / apartments
We stayed over the New Year and noticed a fall off in prices shortly afterwards

Hotel / apartments were nice and clean, plenty of room. The renovation did bother a bit. Also the view from the apartments isn't so lovely ( mountain/ road). Staff was friendly, but they did however have some difficulties communicating in english. Excellent spa! Remember to book in advance, the services are limited. Last, but not least: you CAN book & get a car from Mogan Playa without a trip to Puerto Rico.

Stayed at the Cordial Valle Appartments from 29th September to 13th October. An absolutely stunning reception area greeted us at 10.30pm with 2 helpful male receptionists. We requested a 1st floor appartment within close vicinity to the in-laws and close to the childrens pool. The 1st 2 requests were fulfilled, however, we were at the total opposite end from the childrens pool. We were told if it was a problem we could try and arrange to move the following morning but we didn't bother. It took us about half an hour to find our rooms, which at 10.30pm after almost a 12 hour door to door journey with a tired 3 year old, was not funny!! We were given a photocopy of a map of the complex but it was so confusing, there are so many lifts. They don't have anyone to show you to your rooms let alone help you with your cases. We saw some poeple later in the week still looking for their rooms after an hour!! It took us about 4 days to actually find our way around the complex properly.
On a more positive note, the appartments were lovely, all finished to a high standard. We had a one bedroomed appartment, which also had a sofa bed that had twin beds that pulled out, not the most comfortable but was fine for 2 weeks. Rooms were quite warm but not unbearable. Kitchen was fully functional with everything necessary to prepare basic meals. Beware of the microwave, its really powerful!
We used the main pool area as thats where the childrens pool was and also the pool bar. There are 2 other pools. One of which is still not open and looks like its going to be an infinity pool. The 3rd pool is just that, no childrens pool or bar, hence its really quite by that one. We didn't struggle for a sun lounger at all. No-one reserves beds which is good and as the sun didn't really hit the pool until around 10.30am we didn't have to be up at the crack of dawn either. Just strolled down around 10.15am and basically had the pick of the lot! The childrens pool was small but good. You do get some older children in there and they can get a bit rowdy but generally it was fine.
The pool bar is just that, a bar. We were disappointed it didn't sell snacks (unless you call kebabs a snack!) or ice lollies for the children (although Karla, lovely girl behind the bar, told us they are putting a fridge with ice lollies in this week after all the complaints she had!).
The snack bar is open from 12 til 4pm. In our opinion these hours should have been extended in light of the restaurant not yet being open. If you wanted something to eat after 4pm it was either in your room or a stroll to the Indian across the road (lovely food/staff even though it doesn't look very inviting, its very clean) or down to the harbour. You can eat at the restaurant at the hotel next door but be warned it doesn't open until 8pm so if you have small children this may be a little late.
There was only 1 entertainer for the whole of the complex, a really lovely girl called Sarrah (not Sarah!), she did pool games in the morning with the adults, such as water polo, aqua gym. Then in the afternoon did handycrafts for the children by the pool bar. My little girl called her the Orange lady as she wore an orange top! There is a childrens disco for about half an hour from 8pm, then occassional bingo/film quiz. There is an acrobat show once every 15 days, so all in all entertainment not great. Again, it might be this improves with the opening of the restaurant?
The harbour/beach was a 15 minute stroll with plenty of restaurants to choose from. There are plenty of cash machines, novalty shops, even a Lacoste shop (very nice!).
In terms of recommending a restaurant, I would definitely recommend the Berlina Garden. It was a small German run restaurant and we ate probably 8 nights out of the 14 we were there. Food and service was outstanding. I had Seabass, Paella, Beef Stroganoff, Mixed Grill. The meat is cook to perfection every time and all the dishes we presented beautifully. Whilst were were there we met a family whose daughter was celebrating her 3rd birthday. We had recommended the restaurant to them and they themselves loved it. They mentioned it was their daughters birthday and the owner said he would make her a cake!! They invited us along too and sure enough there was a table set out special, with flowers. When they brought out the cake, each of our plates had her name written on in chocolate sauce and the cake came complete with sparklers, they really went to town and made it special for her. Please see for yourself if you go, you won't be disappointed.
The weather was brilliant, had 1 afternoon of rain, the rest of the time it was probably between 27-30 everyday, clouding over from about 4pm as its in a valley. Didn't turn cold in the evenings and didn't need a long sleeved top.
Took a couple of boat trips, one to Puerto Rico - what a dump! and one to Arguineguin, not much there but was nice to see.
There are no late night bars or nightclubs so really quiet and ideal for people with small children or older travellers.
Would definitely go back to the apartments once the reastaurant was open. All in all a good time had by all!
Photos to follow soon I promise!

Stayed at these apartments from the 22nd Sept- 6th Oct.
Arrived late afternoon after a 1 1/2 hr delay from Manchester, check in was quick with a rough sketch of how to get to our apartment room no 930 top floor,4 lifts later we finely found it.
After all the comments about no A/C in rooms I booked a unit when we checked in 90 euros as prev stated, had to pay cash they will not let you charge it or pay by credit card.
Hubby still not forgiven me we used it the first night but it was so noisy we had to turn it off. After that we just kept the fans on and it was fine, there are no refunds available so it was an expensive mistake (also be aware that if your room is on the ground floor the A/C units has a vent tube that has to go out through the sliding doors so you wouldn't be able to lock them)
Apartment was in pristine condition (wonder if that that will be the case in 12 months the chairs and sofa bed were covered in a suede type fabric very nice but not very practical)
The very best thing was the Huge balcony we could have lived out there, because we were on the top floor it was very private not overlooked, so most of our time we just lounged out there reading with a cool drink, total relaxation.
It was a 10 min leisurely stroll down to the beach, 15min to the port and marina, If I am honest by the end of 2 weeks that 15 min walk sometimes got to be a bit of a drag, ( ladies wear flat shoes)
Food wow what can I say fantastic, Spanish ,Italian, Chinese ,Indian ,Wonderful Seafood,, crepes,I have never been to such a small resort and had the choice of so many places to eat..The Chinese restaurant we liked was Man Tang Hong (restaurante chino) there is only one Indian and that is very handy just across the road.
Our fav place to eat was the Italian down by the beach (it has an Italian flag outside) freshly cooked al dente pasta, wonderful seafood catch of the day menu including lobster, they put a bottle of chilli oil on your table beware it's HOT
We were going to book a table at Los Guayres in the hotel next door on our last night but it doesn't open Sunday or Monday.
Went on the ferry to Puerto Rico, hated it ,we were harrassed by time share, couldn't walk past the shops without being stopped .
Did not stop long !!!!
Went on a small fishing boat from the port to see if we could find the dolphins OMG there was soooo many of them it was fantastic , a lttle rough but well worth it.
While we were there we met T/A Mrs Byrne AKA Lisa and her family I am sure she will give her take on things when she gets back.
All in all a good holiday, will be better when there is a restaurant at the apartments and a little more entertainment.
Will post pics later

Encouraged by some good reviews on Tripadvisor, we booked an apartment at the Cordial Mogán Valle with some confidence. First impressions, however, were less than good. On arrival, directions to our apartment were poor and, with its strange layout, numbering system and many lifts, this place REALLY needs good directions. Also, useful information about the complex, e.g. bar and restaurant opening times, emergency procedures etc. was not provided at check-in. We did, however, receive some instructions for operating the electric kettle.
It took about half an hour to find our apartment, using many lifts, several of which took us further away and lugging two suitcases. This was in broad daylight. In darkness it would have been a nightmare, but perhaps with less risk of dehydration.
The apartment, though, when we found it, was excellent. There was a huge balcony with table, chairs and sun loungers. The living area, kitchen, bathroom and bedroom were also very pleasant. The apartment was cleaned five days a week and the cleaning staff did a very good job.
We may have been unlucky with the reception staff we encountered, but as well as the poor service on arrival, later in the week we walked through reception and walked up a flight of wooden stairs, intending to go to the outside bar/restaurant. Half way up, we were shouted at “It’s closed!”. The restaurant was not closed, but apparently this means of getting to it was. However, there were no signs indicating this and our impression of the reception staff, for the way they communicated this, as though we should have known, was not improved.
We cannot comment on the meals at Mogán Valle, as we dined out every evening. We would particularly recommend “La Cicala”, an excellent Italian restaurant on the beachfront at Puerto de Mogán. There are also a couple of decent restaurants near the marina and the best views, particularly of harbour activity, sunsets and the distant peak of Teide on Tenerife, whilst having a couple of drinks are to be seen from the upstairs terrace of the “El Faro” bar/restaurant.
Puerto de Mogán is a beautiful resort and its combination of attractions suited us perfectly. There is no real nightlife, but when the restaurants close, late drinks can be had at “La Bohemia” bar and one to the right of it, whose name I forget. Both bars are pleasant and attract the locals too.
All in all, a very pleasant holiday and, now knowing our way around the Cordial Mogán Valle, and despite perhaps an unlucky experience with certain reception staff, we would definitely stay there again.

Just got back from Cordial Mogan Valle Apartments. I must say it is not the kind of holiday we usually go for however, we were pleasantly surprised. The apartments are brand new 1 or 2 bedrooms. We arrived at about 4.00am and were given a map of how to get to our apartment! For those who have read the apartments description in the brochure, where it says there are 22 lifts, it's not a typo there are that many lifts! We were on the 9th floor a long walk with 3 different lifts and a walk up the last flight. We definitely needed the map! BUT it was worth it we were not overlooked and there was nobody either side of us for most of the 2 weeks we were there. It was like a Penthouse! The apartment is slightly bigger than the usual 1 bedroom. It has a sofa bed in the living room which pulls out into 2 single beds (very comfortable) and two large single beds in the bedroom. The ceiling fans are metal and large but if you are there mid summer and can't take the stifling heat you can hire an air conditioner (90 euros 2 weeks). There are the usual things in the kitchen, however bring your own tin opener the one they have is difficult to use and beware of the fridge ours didn’t close very well and we ended up with water which had come from the ice box all over the food in the fridge. Also the knives are extremely sharp for those with small kids to think of.
Because the restaurant wasn’t ready and we had paid for breakfasts we were upgraded to the sister hotel next door the Cordial Mogan Playa and were given free access whenever we wanted to Salinas (spa centre). Both of these offers were well worth it. The hotel next door was very posh and the breaksfasts were good and varied. The spa had a Jacuzzi, sauna, Turkish sauna, helarium (ice sauna), and 2 different kinds of showers (very relaxing & well worth a visit or 2).
There were 2 pools with a 3rd to open fairly soon and there is a pool bar and a snack bar with chill out area along with poolside vending machines for ice creams, cold drinks and water.
Overall the staff at the Cordial Mogan Apartments were very polite and attentive. The only drawbacks I would say are there is no air conditioning, the safe, which is high tech didn’t work properly (we got a refund with no questions asked) and the door keys don’t always work (a big problem on our first night – we nearly had to go back down 9 flights to the reception!!!) but don’t worry they’ve got plenty of spares.
Finally, although the room service staff were very polite ‘hola’ be aware that you must ask for towels, bedding etc to be changed if you need it.
I would recommend these apartments to all types of holidaymakers even ones with disabilities as they have disabled facilities everywhere and the resort is not hilly like Puerto Rico it is mostly pedestrianised and flat with direct access to the seafront with its beach and beachfront shops. Puerto Mogan is also very beautiful ‘Canaries Venice’.
A tip for holiday activities. If you're brave enough to drive in Gran Canaria, drive to the Presa de Las Ninas up in the hills. It has a BBQ area and a large blue green lake.
