Just back from a one week holiday in sandy golf, booked through gohop.ie with first choice. savage deal, just wanted a week to unwind and relax. This place was fab, clean, comfortable, quite and not too far away from playa del "finglas" 2.50 in a taxi. I will definetly go back there next year. If your looking to get away from that rep, kids club and bar reps trying to intice you in for business then this is the place for you. total chill out. Place is perfect and very clean.

We have now been to this complex several times over many years. It has still maintained it's appeal for a very relaxing holiday, but now in recently re-furbished accommodation. We think it is ideal for couples trying to avoid the kids clubs; in your face entertainment; late night drinking; hustle-bustle; dash-round-the-pool-for-a-bed, holiday. Certainly not for young people wanting the high life. But good for the elderly, and anyone poor on their feet, since it is built on the flat, with no stairs. It probably has the highest repeat visitors of any accommodation anywhere on the island, maybe in the Canaries. So, if you want a holiday where you can get a good nights sleep from 10-10.30pm, this could be the place for you.

Cordial Sandy Golf encourage you to comment on sites such as Tripadvisor, and they have every right to do so as this is such a great place to stay.
This is a quiet complex with an excellent standard of accommodation at a good price. You are well within reach (20 min walk/3.50 euro taxi) of the bright lights of Playa del Ingles, but if like me, you don’t want to be in the thick of it all the time, this location is a great compromise.
The bungalows have obviously been recently refurbished and include all the basic equipment you’ll need, although some extras have to be paid for (e.g. electric kettles although there is a stove top one provided). The complex is beautifully landscaped and very peaceful throughout the day and night.
I found the staff to be very helpful and the bungalow was cleaned five days out of seven. One day I had problems getting into my safe and the receptionist called out an engineer, who attended in 30 minutes.
A few tips:
If you arrive after midnight, you’ll have to collect your key from the Green Golf reception opposite.
Michelangelo’s in Faro 2 is a great Italian restaurant I hired a bike, which gave me a lot of freedom, there’s a place to do this also at Faro 2 – the mountain bike I had was 8 euros per day – bargain! On your departure day, an empty bungalow is available to everyone, so you can change and have a shower, which was a relief.
Oh and if anyone objects to sharing their holiday with “foreigners” – I suggest you try Blackpool next year!

I was very concerned looking at some of the previous reviews but i neednt have worried it was the best holiday we have ever had. The place was fantastic, peaceful and relaxing. Pool area gorgeous and a great cafe for snacks and drinks. All the staff were very friendly and the bungalow itself was lovely. Being able to sit outside on your own little patio for breakfast was lovely!
We are going to go back next year and go for 2 weeks this time.
I would recommend going to Puerto Mogan, get a bus from Holiday World (same side as holiday world) to Puerto Rico, 5euros for 2. Then get a ferry to Mogan its well worth it. We also got taxis to Meloneras on a night restaurants there lovely and the seafront base was gorgeous. We got a taxi to a spanish village called San Fernando, taxis are so cheap we paid no more than 3euros. In San Fernando there isnt much there but there is a lovely Tapas Restaurant called Al Andaluca its worth a visit, very spanish and the food is lovely but sit under the air con!
Also in the Faro 2 "Michealangelos" is gorgeous and very friendly staff
I would definetly recommend Maspalomas and Sandy Golf.
Please contact me for any more info.

Just reurned from 10 days at the sandy golf (2nd visit). We booked as we had been there before 4 years ago and knew it was good. the bungalows have all been refurbished since our last visit and they are now lovely to say the least.
i have read some of the other reviews and felt compelled to write one as we were so impressed by the holiday we have just experienced.
They are not perfect but with a little thought and care you can have a holiday thats hard to beat.
Yes outside the compund's limit it looks as though the Luftwaffe has just been and left in a hurry but the same can be said for anywhere on the island that has yet to be developed.
The Bungalows were well furnished and secure and there is a safe to rent. everything else we needed was provided (kettle, toaster, hob etc etc). The maid came in every other day and changed the towels and made the beds along with cleaning and washing up.
The staff are typically spanish but do carry out any reasonable requests fairly quickly and always seem willing to help.
On the Restaurant front i would like to make a few reccomendations.
The best restaurant we found, was within 5 minutes walking distance and is called "the Grand Canale" (its by the large canal at the side of the 'Maspolomas Dunas' complex.
It wasnt the cheapest but is was excellent value and the staff treat you like family. the food's great too!
Also good was the "meson tapas" in the Faro 2 centre. The staff were great and a lot of the food is cooked in front of you.
AVOID like the plague a restaurant called Piz Paz Adrian.
The food is OK but the staff seem too hate the Brits despite welcoming you at first and all they seem to want is your money! The difference between the Best and the PPA is like the difference between McDonalds and the F word.(i said the F word a few times!)
Visit Puerto Mogan on Friday for the market but avoid Puerto Rico unless you have a wish to buy a timeshare on Amfi resort the sellers will drive you mad.
Above all visit the interior of the island for the spectacular views and take loadsa money.

My girlfriend and I have just returned from a weeks holiday at the cordial sandy golf bungalows Maspalomas and we can highly recommend it. The complex itself is very large and spacious set amongst floral gardens, with an excellent sized pool and the bar/restaurant serves a good range of snacks and meals, For entertainment the sister complex of cordial green bungalows is just over the road. The location is only minutes walk from the Faro 2 centre which has many bars, restuarants, shops and a bank. If you do visit it then the tapas restaurant was by far the best place for an evening meal. Just slightly further on from faro 2 is a large amusement park for the kids again with bars and restaurants situated within.
To get to the local beach and sand dunes is we were told a 25 minute walk, although we opted for the bus service supplied for free which runs several times there and back throughout the day.
There is also a free service to the very close by Playa Del Ingles. There are also taxis easily available throughout the day at a reasonable cost.
If you choose to go to the promenade at maspalomas beach for evening meals there are a good selection of restaurants to be found, also just a minute or two further past the lighthouse is the very upmarket Melonores, which is wonderful to walk around with again lots of places to stop to eat, have a drink or visit the indoor shopping centre, it is however slightly more expensive.
The bungalows themselves are set in their own little gardens, with private terrace. The open plan living room/kitchen is spacious and light with basic but adequate cooking facilites, the bedroom is again light and spacious with security vented shutters on the windows, plenty of clothes space and extra bedding supplied. Both the living room and bedroom have ceiling mounted fans. The bathroom has a shower with good supply of hot water at all times and powerful too! Overall the bungalows are very clean, modern and furnished to a high standard. The cordial sandy golf bungalows are perfect for families and couples but perhaps not quite suitable for young large groups.
The maid service is excellent with the accomodation being cleaned and towels and linen changed regularly. The reception staff are very helpful and friendly and speak very good English.
To summarise, we had a wonderful holiday with superb accomodation in a quiet location yet close enough to all the amenities. We enjoyed every minute of our stay and would without doubt return in future visits to Gran Canaria.

Me and my boyfriend got back from Sandy Golf yesterday (30th June 08) stayed there for 2 weeks and I must say it was excellent!! from reading a few reviews I was a bit weary but honestly the complex is gorgeous, people that write bad reviews don't listen! Its a lovely place the pool is huge and very clean, surrounded all by trees and pretty flowers, there was always enough sunbeds and to be honest the pool area was never crowded, theres a bar there that serves lunch, dinner etc... all at a good price, theres a few stray cats around but there were all lovely and friendly, theres 2 pool tables and table tennis & the evening entertainment is over at the green golf just across the road. Maids came everyday, Staff were friendly and nice and we even got a free drink at the bar =), the bungalows were lovely you have your own terrace out the back to hang washing etc... and you have your own front terrace with table and chairs and a few sunbeds if you don't want to sit round the pool - the scenery is gorgeous aswel very colourful! theres a shop just over the road at green golf that sell all essentials you need.
Now places to go at night - theres plenty to do and to choose from the faro 2 centre is literally a 5 min walk not even that which has shops, restuarants and 2 bars - theres a bar we found there called banjos cocktail bar which stayed open until about 2.30 in the morning & if you walk 2 mins from the centre it takes you to holiday world which is a fun fair and has some restaurants and bars, bowling and amusements! or you can go down to the front of maspalomas which is lovely and looks rather posher lol that has lots of restuarants and we found a few irish bars - theres one called the 19th hole which was good! if you get a taxi there its no more than 3-4 euros (ask to be dropped off at the lighthouse). or even to walk it which we did a few times to get to the beach takes about 20mins. or you can even go into playa del ingles which has lots or restuarants, bars and shops which I found cheaper! theres a shopping centre called Yumbo which is good.
We found a bus stop down the road which takes you into Puerto Rico and only costs £4.80 for 2 people!! =)
I've still got so much to write but I won't go on anymore coz it will take forever but feel free to contact me if you want anymore info.
I would recommend this complex and resort to anyone, its gorgeous and theres lots of good places to go, I wish i was still there and will def be going back!

my boyfriend and i 20yrs old went for a 1 week holiday for first time. havin lookd at so many we chose the sandy golf because of the bungalow lookin so nice in a peaceful area reali tranquil but not far for all the day/night life great location.
the bungalow is lovely jus the rite size for two and with the pool centre on the plot it great to sunbathe and go bk and forth if need be.
the beach front jus 30mins walk away, the walk is so nice it flys by and wen u reach ther seein both the lush beach and sand dunes behind it is well worth it.
went on the bar crawl which was great no free drinks thou for your 10euros per person jus shots offered. be careful thou as we wer in one club and girl in a group dancin fell and split her forehead lots of blood but because so was drunk looked worst than it was but reps wernt helpful askin a guest what to do with the rest of them no wher to b seen. dont let this put u off as this is jus the bar crawl and am sure its rare but beware for ur own safety is my advice.
ther are half a dozen shoppin centres no more than a 5euro taxi ride jut 10 mins away jus great and wher the bars/restaurants are.
the faro shoppin centre is 5 mins walk from sandy golf great if u dont wana go into the night life and a meal or jus a drink and shopping.
the mini market across the road and others around will seem the first point of call if self caterin but ther is a supermarket in the faro centre and others jus a short taxi ride away in all the large shopping centres wher food and drink is cheaper just a tip.
the people at sandy golf couldnt b more helpful and the pool was very nice to sun bath and dip into. not heated thou!! but wen the suns out very refreshing.
for jus 2 of u or a small family of 3 its jus great for a peaceful holiday not to far from the night life. i would def go again and for ther price you cant go wrong. great for families too!
hope this helps

This was my fifth stay at the Sandy Golf, my first since the refurbishment. I love this place. There were six of us so we had neighbouring bungalows.
The pool is great, never ever gets packed.
We had our two young children, and they can be quite noisy but nobody complained which was really good.
The Faro 2 Shopping Centre is really close and as many shops. The shopping centre in Melenoras is really good as are the shopping centres in Playa del ingles.

Diese Bungalowanlage bietet einfach alles, was man zum Urlaub braucht- wenn man nicht von unten nach oben umsorgt werden will. Wir waren im Mai/Juni 2008 dort, und es hat uns sowas von gut gefallen.....
Service einwandfrei, Personal sehr, sehr freundlich.

We booked this hotel with a view to staying somewhere peaceful, yet being in walking distance of the razzmatazz. As two 30-something party girls, we wanted to party but also to relax/sleep as well.
The Cordial Sandy Golf was a PERFECT solution. The resort of Maspalomas is within walking distance of Playa del Ingles, which is full of restaurants, bars and clubs. Maspalomas itself is a low level pretty development with a scattering of supermarkets. Its famous for its sandunes which have blown over from the Sahara - lovely to walk through (there are also camel rides if you are feeling up to it!) We thought the location was perfect.
Anyway, the hotel itself is one of two Cordial resorts on the same road (Cordial Green Golf is the other one) so you could use the facilities of both. Both Sandy and Green have been completely refurbished in the last year or two, and both were SUPERB as far as accommodation/pools/facilities go. Sandy Golf is based on a circular plan surrounding a lovely circular pool. Its got really beautiful bungalow style rooms in mature pretty gardens. We were very comfortable in our room - which was one of the most basic styles. Everything was new, and very very clean. We were really impressed with the maidservice - new towels and sheets every day. In fact, the cleaning team never stopped - the whole place was spotless - they even washed down the tiling walkways every day with a ride-on washer thing.
We didnt eat at the resort as we were self catering, but the food in the restaurant looked ok - a bit "brits abroad" the standard pasta and pizza and chips type stuff, but if thats what you like, there was plenty of it.
Taxi's on the island are the best value - they are all on a standard an very cheap.
We went on one of the excursions booked through First choice - the Aphrodite luxury boat trip - which was AMAZING definately worth the money.
Also, we hired a car for 3 days, which was also well worth doing, but the roads and driving over there is well scary, so judge it when you get there and if you think you are up for it hire locally!

Just returned from Gran Canaria, staying at the Cordial Sandy Golf Bungalows. Excellent self catering bungalows, quite compact but well furnished. Good sized swimming pool in very pleasant and well maintained surroundings. Ideal for a quiet break and very reasonable.

I was a little worried as when I booked the Sandy golf as it was extremely cheap for the high season. We were 2 adults 30 years old and a child 10. I was very anxious as we approcahed our accomodation in hope that it would be ok.
I had NOTHING TO WORRY ABOUT, the bungalows are spotless, cleand every day if you want. No Cockroaches seen the whole week or Ants which was great for me... I am petrified of them..Oh there were a few cats .. like I think I seen 4 but if you dont feed them they wont come near you...There are a lot of German people staying at Sandy golf but they didnt bother us they were all quite nice. Green golf had more Irish and English people staying it may be a bit noisey over there.
The pool is lovely (small-ish) but thats only compared to the pool across at the green Golf appartments which by the way is part of Sandy golf so you can use both.
We only had dinner once in Sandy golf as we were on Room only and that was on the Wednesday night it was lovely a big all you can eat BBQ. Weeven had our own BBq outside our bungalow on Thursday night we bought a mini BBQ in Euro spar for around €2 and cooked Burgers and Bacon and chicken wings. It was really nice..
BEACHES; went to Maspalomas beach its beautiful we got a taxi €3 or you can take the bus which is free it leaves from outside the complex every morning.
Playa De Ingles lovely beach and we did some water sports here they have jet skis and Bananna boats ect not too expensive..
Lots of activities in the canaries - we had my boyfriends ten year old boy with us so it was all about keeping him entertained for the week. We were in Aqualand €4 in a taxi which is great (a bit pricey inside for food and water ect.) and we went to the Karting near Las Palmas its MASSIVE.
The only fault wit our holiday was the guys (reps) on the Beach at Playa De Ingles they told us to go to a different beach at Anfi del Mar in Patalavaca that had white sand ,water sports, Elton Johns Boat ect so we got a free Taxi ect and after being bullied to walk in the blazing heat for an hour to see the complex ..It was a time share. SERIOUSLY DONT GET CAUGHT LIKE US....I was soo mad after getting caught for this waste of a day.
Apart from that Playa De Ingles is literally 6 mins €4 in a Taxi from Sandy golf we, being Irish went to the Irish Centre. No restricions with kids we were singing Karoke and dancing till around 2 o clock. Mulligans Irish bar I have to say the food was lovely here.
Green golf is across the road from Sandy golf and we used the pool there and had food there a few times its lovely over there too - great for familys with kids the pool is huge.. Good entertainment here for the kids at night we went to see the Parrott show it was brilliant. There is also a supermarket at the green golf and it has everything you need for Breakfast dinner and tea.
Faro 2 (big Shopping centre) is literally 3 mins walk. We got a Taxi the first time we went over and it took longer to get there in the Taxi than to walk. Its lovely in Faro 2 at night they have a big trampoline )supervised for the kids and lots of Bars and restaurants. No clothes shops as such but had a big supermarket with a meat counter . The Jumbo Shopping Centre is where you should go for shopping for clothes hand bags cameras ect..
We will be returning to the Sandy Golf or Green Golf Bungalows next year and i will also be recommending them to everyone.

Sandy Golf proved to be everything I was looking for. Found a great price on the net, researched via TripAdvisor, booked, went ... and was delighted!
Three of us ladies were looking for a week's chilling out, happy to self-cater but wanting somewhere calm. Sandy Golf is just brilliant: pretty & peaceful - can't praise it too highly, really.
The bungalows, which are set in attractive and well-cared for gardens, are clean, bright, well thought out and have most things you need (a little mean on cutlery!) and any minor problems we encountered were quickly and cheerfully resolved. The swimming pool was beautiful: circular and huge - it took ages to do a circuit! There's a bar and cafe for those who need it. There are a few cats around but they are all healthy looking and friendly, happily sharing the grounds with the guests. The whole complex is incredibly quiet (no major roads nor noisy bars nearby) and no other visible buildings, just the distant hills.
If you want more "action", all the facilities of the sister complex "Green Golf" opposite are there for Sandy Golf guests too. Particularly useful for breakfast was their mini-shop with life's basics (milk, bread, fruit, etc!!!). Within a short walk (about 7 minutes or so), past a house with the prettiest hedge I've ever seen, is the Faro 2 complex with a well-stocked little supermarket, restaurants, bars, etc. where we had a delicious rabbit stew on our first evening. "Cordial" management lay on a free bus to Maspalomas beach and Playa del Ingles, which is very useful. However, we rather enjoyed the 20 minute amble to/from the sea, past the golf course and along the barranca and bird watching at the dunes reserve. On one occasion we walked over the sand dunes to Playa del Ingles (ooooh, the naturists!!!) and decided to take the bus back but realised we didn't know where to catch it! That little bit of information wasn't in the timetable, sadly. Public transport is great though and inexpensive. Didn't use a taxi once though understand those too are cheap by UK standards.
Shopped around to find a brilliant price for car hire and enjoyed 2 days of fantastic scenery, choosing the narrowest of roads to places far off the beaten track. What a glorious island it is, well worth exploring. An up-to-date map is most definitely required, as there are new and upgraded roads (EU money ++ spent methinks), and great free guides (Gran Canaria: South West Route, etc) picked up at the airport on arrival were a useful addition to standard guide books.
So, Sandy Golf is highly recommended by me if you're looking for a simple, peaceful holiday in lovely surroundings. If you've got kids, choose Cordial Golf - great standards too but more buzz. Me - I like the quiet life and most definitely will go back.

I have just got back from a week staying at the Cordial Sandy Golf. After looking at the reviews, I was not expecting much. How wrong I was! The bungalows are comfortable enough for two people and children, anymore adults and it would be a squeeze. There was a seperate bedroom, a nice compact kitchen with everything you need. A bathroom with shower, and constant very hot water. The water pressure did drop when they turned the sprinklers on at about 9.00, but it wasn't a problem for us. We had maid service and clean towels everyday. The bungalows are set in gardens and had a veranda with table and chairs and sunloungers. The pool area was lovely and relaxing, and there was lots of sun loungers available. The pool was heated. The bar and eating area were good, but there was no evening entertainment, which made it very peaceful. If you want entertainment you can use the Green Golf facilities, which is the sister hotel directly across the road (they also have a little supermarket). There is a courtesy bus during the day which picks you up outside the hotel and takes you to Playa Des Ingles or Maspalomas. Playa Des Ingles is about a 30 minute walk and Maspalomas is a 20 minute walk (3 euro in a taxi). The golf course is a 5 minute walk. There is also the Faro 2 shopping centre with shops, supermarkets, bars and lots of eating places which is a 10 minute walk. Overall I really had a relaxing enjoyable holiday, and would recommend these apartments for a relaxing, quiet, laidback or exploring holiday.
